The full story of our first ever immersive industry event
When talented people come together with a shared purpose, extraordinary things happen.
At SA Weddings, we had long dreamed of returning to the event space in a way that felt more meaningful than ever before. After three years of dreaming, conceptualising and planning, that vision became our very first SA Weddings industry event: The Colour of Celebration,
More than an event, it was an immersive celebration that brought together the creatives, professionals and innovators behind South Africa's weddings. It was an opportunity to celebrate an industry that spends its life celebrating everyone else; to honour the artistry, craftsmanship and passion that define it; to connect engaged couples with exceptional wedding professionals; and to showcase what is possible when creativity and collaboration come together.
This is the story of the incredible people who transformed that vision into an unforgettable celebration.
Perched above the Cape Town skyline, Rooftop on Bree provided the perfect blank canvas for The Colour of Celebration. Its contemporary industrial aesthetic offered endless creative possibilities, allowing every collaborator to transform the space into something entirely unique.
Outside, Dimension Tents extended the space and experience with an elegant Bedouin stretch tent, creating a warm and inviting setting where guests could gather beneath the winter sky.
Bringing the vision together behind the scenes was Trunk Events, whose meticulous planning, calm leadership and attention to detail ensured every moving part came together seamlessly. Working alongside them were the second-year students from the Aleit Academy, who not only helped shape the original concept but gained invaluable hands-on experience by assisting with coordination, media and production throughout the evening. It was collaboration in its truest form.
Guests were immersed from the moment they arrived.
AVZ Décor & Design transformed the staircase and entrance into a striking welcome, before guests made their way to a breathtaking photo opportunity area styled by Winter Bird Events, who also provided elegant and vibey floral installations above the bar. My Pretty Vintage softened the space with elegant, flowing draping throughout the venue and romantic floral styling at the Scent Bar.
Throughout the venue, NConcepts & Designs curated elegant furniture settings allowing guests to gather, connect and celebrate. They transformed the outdoor area into a green wonderland, where guests could grab a drink, have a seat, and take it all in.
Pretty in Stains, supported by Groenigheid, created showstopping floral moments across the stage, entertainment space and cocktail areas. Above it all, MiaBella Paper Flowers suspended an extraordinary ceiling installation that drew the eye upwards, as well as provided magnificent paper flowers to complement various spaces throughout the venue. Paper & Stain tied every detail together, from our gorgeous Colour of Celebration branding to every piece of bespoke stationery and signage, ensuring the concept flowed effortlessly from one space to the next.
Every unforgettable celebration relies on atmosphere, and Aurras Group ensured every guest felt immersed from beginning to end. From the stage and LED screen to the lighting, sound, dance floor and technical production, every element worked together seamlessly to transform the venue throughout the evening.
As the celebration evolved, so too did the space, culminating in a packed dance floor that kept guests celebrating long into the night.
The culinary experience was every bit as considered as the event itself. Inspired by the concept of The Colour of Celebration, The Velvet Effect crafted a menu that was as visually striking as it was memorable, with every plate thoughtfully presented and expertly served by Silver Service Staffing.
Throughout the evening, guests toasted with Graham Beck bubbly, explored the Tanqueray Gin and Johnnie Walker Whisky experiences, enjoyed artisanal coffee from The Magnificent Barista Boys, and kept the celebrations flowing at Rooftop on Bree's cash bar. Every bite, every sip and every interaction reflected the same level of creativity and hospitality that defined the evening.
The evening unfolded through moving live performances. Craig Ballantyne Bagpiper welcomed guests with the unmistakable sound of the bagpipes, setting the tone before internationally acclaimed duo Acoustic Element captivated the room with their signature blend of violin, guitar and beatboxing. Will Linley brought chart-topping energy to the stage before Carla Stokes opened the dance floor with her saxophone in spectacular style. Aurras Group's DJ kept guests dancing well into the evening.
Guiding the celebration from beginning to end was MC Carl Wastie, whose warmth, humour and effortless presence tied every chapter of the evening together.
The Colour of Celebration wasn't designed to be observed, it was created to be experienced.
Guests left heartfelt voice messages with Chatterbox, captured memories at the Magic Mirror Photobooth from Propel Media and took home bespoke water colour portraits by Ted Key Illustrations.
At the Cape Island scent bar, they created their own signature fragrance in a personalised SA Weddings bottle, while Leoce Couture, Phoenix Dance Company and The Makeup Company came together to present a breathtaking showcase where couture fashion, movement and artistry became one unforgettable performance.
While every collaborator helped create The Colour of Celebration, our media team ensured its story would live on long after the evening came to an end. Through their unique perspectives, they captured not only what the event looked like, but what it felt like.
Ricardo Lategan welcomed guests with elegant arrival portraits, Duane Smith documented the genuine moments and atmosphere that unfolded throughout the evening, It's Reel Love Studio preserved the excitement through engaging, social-first content, and Kopel Kreative brought the celebration to life through cinematic storytelling that will allow us to relive the experience for years to come.
Without their creativity and talent, we wouldn't be able to share The Colour of Celebration with you today.
The Colour of Celebration was a reminder of what makes the wedding industry so extraordinary. When talented people come together with a shared vision, they don't simply create beautiful events, they create experiences that inspire, connect and leave a lasting impression.
To every collaborator, guest and member of the SA Weddings family who made this celebration possible, thank you for believing in the vision and bringing it to life. We can't wait to welcome you back in 2028 with a brand-new concept, new collaborations and another unforgettable celebration.
