Magical Moments

To be honest, it would be so difficult not to write about the entire day!
By far the most special moment was our first look.
We knew walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time would be really overwhelming and we wanted to take in the moment with each other.
We decided on doing a first look before the ceremony, which ended up being such a huge highlight to our day and just set up everything for us for the rest of the day. Sharing those couple of moments without distractions and being able to take it all in together made the day all the more special.

The Honeymoon

We were fortunate enough to visit Bali for two weeks! The first week we visited Ubud and the surrounds - visiting as many places as possible and doing all our sight seeing. The second week we relaxed at a resort on the Nusa Dua Peninsula, enjoying beach days and time next to the pool before heading back to reality.

My Special Day

My wedding dress was designed and made by Alec Roux Couture from a basic idea of combining bold lace, Spanish elegance and a hint of boho. It included a lace detachable train and a plain cathedral veil to finish off this dramatic look.
In keeping with the dress, my hair was kept soft with loose curls pinned back, but with bold makeup. A soft smokey eye, strong liner and lashes and an even stronger dark red lip contrasted beautifully with the dress - all done by Mia's Makeup
To keep a hint of fun and the Spanish themed colours, I had bold blue wrap heels and blue, white and gold earrings made from bold coloured agate.
Our day was also filled with small nostalgic elements and I finished my look my Grandmother's inherited gold bracelet.

The Venue

We got married at the stunning Murasie wedding venue outside of Baardskeerdersbos in the Overberg.
Having grown up in the area made it really special to be able to use this beautiful venue.
Most of our Family and guests stayed on the farm and the rest in the surrounding areas.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I didn't have a crazy regime, but we both tried to eat healthy, drink a lot of water and went to the gym regularly.
A couple of weeks before the wedding I visited Skin Renewal for light chemical peal treatment.
I also had my nails done to match the entire wedding look by Polished by Monica using Bio sculpture to ensure it lasted through the wedding and honeymoon.

Wedding Elements

Flowers played a very imported role in our day. We wanted it to fit in with the beautiful nature around the venue as well as bring in the Spanish look. We used masses of bright Bougainvillea, Coral Peonies and Blue Hydrangeas filled with pops of blue, yellow and white. These were all done and placed in antique gold and blue and white Ming vases by Christien from Husband and Wife Team.
They also added beautiful strings of fairy lights to the ceiling of the venue.
The look was completed with gold candle holders, glass under plates with gold detailing and a mix of dark blue and light blue floral linen serviettes from the Table Cloth Company.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

We bought a stunning dark blue wool suit from Trenery with brown button details for Francois, finished with a blue and pink paisley tie and his late Grandfather's tie clip and cufflinks.
The groomsmen got their suits from Mr Suit hire in a slightly lighter blue than the groom's suit - finished with dark plum ties.
To keep a bit of fun rolling, each of them had a pair different coloured bright socks with funky designs from H&M.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The Bridesmaid dresses were bought at YDE in two different styles and colours.
Dark Blue soft flowing dresses and plum and lace cowl dresses.
This was all finished with long gold earings and soft waves.

My Captured Moments

We were lucky enough to have both a photographer and a videographer that captured our special day.
Nikkie Fivas from Nikkie Fivas Photography took the beautiful photos and the videography of the day was done by Thalia&John Films.

The Wedding Planner

We did not make use of a wedding planner and did everything ourselves.

Wedding Transport

Guests used their own transport for the wedding.

Food & Cake

We tried to use as many of the local service providers as possible.
Alida Groenewald from Bredasdorp and her team took care of the catering in terms of the pre-drinks snacks and main meals.
For the wedding cakes and the dessert we used a close friends services, Alicia Judd from Alicia's Bakery.

Wedding Stationery

We were lucky enough that my sister is a graphic designer, so she did all of the beautiful stationary for the tables and the day.

The Reception and Entertainment

We decided on a planned first dance which we tough ourselves! Needless to say we were extremely happy that it went off without a hitch on the night ;) Our sound and lighting was done by the same team that did our videography - Thalia&John Films and music.
