Magical Moments

The whole day was memorable to me, it is hard to choose my favourites, but the most special moments for me was: Sharing a first look with my dad. Walking down the isle and seeing the man I love standing and waiting for me to start the rest of our lives. I loved having my mom there to help me get dressed and of course partying the night away with all our loved ones. One more special moment was when one of my nieces, my little flower girl didn't want to leave my side that night. Her mother and my MOH couldn't make the wedding due to a car accident, and when little Ava didn't want to leave my side it felt like my MOH was right there with me.

The Honeymoon

For a long time we could not decide where to go on honeymoon. We did not want to go to a place everyone always go to, and decided we do not want to fly. So we had the idea of exploring our own continent a bit, and went on our honeymoon to Namibia, where we visited a few places we haven't seen in our previous visits. We road tripped all the way and it was perfect. We sang kareoke in the bakkie all the way, we explored, drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of sea food and tried every coffee shop where we went.

My Special Day

I decided to go for a minimalist look. And I tried to keep a lot of things as natural as possible. I hate cluttered places, and wanted my decor and tables to look as clean and clutter free as possible.

I've always wanted a wedding that stood out from the rest, and I believe that my dress did just that. Jana from Silver Swallow did an amazing job with my dress. I did not want things the same as other people, that is why I chose a white and black wedding.

Dress: Silver Swallow Designs

The Venue

I have always wanted to get married in the Western Cape. To my husband and I Cape Town is a very special place, we went on our first every holiday together to Cape Town and would go back there in a heart beat, so I thought it would be perfect to get married at our favourite place. But....

A few months after our engagement I was the photographer at a wedding in Mooiplaas Venue in Nylstroom. I completely fell in love with the venue, and that day I decided Mooiplaas will be my wedding venue one day. Mooiplaas Venue brings the feel of the Western Cape to the bushveld.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Doing business full time, and living on a farm it was very hard to go to the gym everyday. So I started doing yoga 2/3 times a week at home. I drank a lot of water and ate a lot of fruits during the day. I tried to cut on my sugar intake and meditated a few times a week.

Wedding Elements

With the decor I tried to keep everything simple. I believe that less is more.

We only did black candles and white tulips and gold tipped feathers on the tables.

We also had lawn games for the guests to play with while we were out taking couple pictures.

Tablecloths: Table Cloth Company
Flowers: Multiflora

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom and his groomsmen all wore black and white. The groom had a floral tie and the groomsmen wore pink bowties.

Groom suit: Coquis
Groom tie: Woolworths
Groomsmen ties: Coffieties

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I love the trend of bridesmaids wearing black. So I wanted them to match the wedding, and they also wore black dresses we got from Bilquis in Johannesburg.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was Ds. Hennie Nel from the Nederdutch Hervormde Kerk in Mokopane. His Church has always been a safe place for me, and I couldn't picture my day any other way.

My Captured Moments

Being a photographer myself it was a really hard decision to make about choosing the right photographer. So I compiled a list of 3 photographers I wanted and asked my hubby to make the final choice about our photographer. So he and I decided on D'amor Photography. Lucia Beukes from D'amor photography captured our day flawlessly. She did an amazing job at capturing the special moments we will treasure forever. She was so kind and patient and she was just perfect.

We hired a last minute videographer for a special guest (my MOH) that could not make it to our wedding day, and we hired Roelien from Pinnacle studios to do our video, and we are still in awe about our special video. She was so much fun and I cannot explain how much that video meant to us.

Both our photographer and videographer did an absolute amazing job.

We also had a photobooth we did ourselves. Painted by Melize van der Walt

The Wedding Planner

My planner was my mom. She was a star. I have her to thank for all her amazing ideas that formed part of our wedding day, and I have to thank my dad for making all my mother's ideas possible. They are the best. Without them the wedding wouldn't have been as great as it was.

Wedding Transport

Our wedding transport was an old Chev Apache that my dad built up himself. In 2015 he bought a
n old and rusted Chev Apache and trasformed it into what was my wedding car, and it was absolutely perfect.

Food & Cake

Mooiplaas Wedding Venue did our food and OMGoodness it was the best dinner ever!!

Nikki Korf Veloen did our delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake with marshmallow frosting between the layers and that was the best cake everrrrrrrrr.

Wedding Stationery

I got the stationery from a Etsy store and printed at the Postnet in Mokopane.

The Reception and Entertainment

For the reception we had the best time ever.

For the bouquet toss we did musical bouquet. So all the girls sat in a circle and had to pass the bouquet on to the next person, and when the music stopped and you had the bouquet last you were out. Until the last one was left. My two aunts had a flower fight over who was going to win the bouquet.

For the garter toss we did paper planes, so all the guys had to fold a paper plane with their name on it, and the plane that landed the closest to the bride got the garter.

We did not take dance lessons or practice a first dance. We went into the dance with just a song and just enjoyed it. We had amazing DJ's, family friends of ours did our music and they did an exceptional task.
