Our wedding day on 23 May 2026 was the beautiful fulfilment of prayers prayed for many years. One of the most memorable moments was standing at the church doors, knowing that God had been writing our story long before we met. For seven years, I prayed for the right husband – not just any husband, but a God-fearing man whose heart belonged to the Lord first – and walking down the aisle towards Nicolaas felt like watching God's promise come to life.
One of our absolute favourite moments happened just before our guests entered the reception venue. We had the opportunity to walk into the venue together, just the two of us, and take everything in. Seeing months of planning, dreaming, and countless ideas come together was truly mind-blowing. Other than the church ceremony itself, this was probably our most special moment – standing hand in hand, soaking it all in, and sharing that quiet moment together before the celebrations began.
The day was filled with love, laughter, happy tears, and the overwhelming support of our family and friends. More than the flowers, décor, or details, the greatest highlight was knowing that we were stepping into the future together, grateful for God's faithfulness and excited for the life that lies ahead. It was a day filled with joy, purpose, and the certainty that we were exactly where we were meant to be.
Yes, we were blessed to spend our honeymoon in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It was the perfect way to unwind and celebrate the start of married life together.
Some of our favourite memories include snorkelling in the crystal-clear ocean, swimming with dolphins, exploring the island, and experiencing the beauty of Zanzibar's beaches and culture. We loved trying local food, visiting local markets, and engaging with the friendly people who shared so much of their culture and way of life with us.
Most importantly, it gave us precious time together away from the busyness of wedding planning. We laughed, relaxed, explored, and simply enjoyed being husband and wife for the first time. It was the perfect balance of adventure, rest, and quality time together, and a honeymoon we will never forget.
My bridal look was timeless, elegant, and authentically me. I wanted every detail to reflect my personality rather than follow trends, creating a look that felt effortless, romantic, and comfortable from start to finish.
For my hair and makeup, Lisa Brown understood exactly what I envisioned. I'm not someone who enjoys heavy makeup, so she created a beautifully soft, natural look that made me feel like the best version of myself. I still looked like me—just a little more polished for the biggest day of my life.
My wedding dress, designed by Didi Couture, was everything I had dreamed of and more. From the very first meeting, Didi completely understood who I was and what I wanted. She truly understood the assignment before I even had to explain it. Together, we created a gown that was elegant, unique, and incredibly versatile.
The bodice featured delicate floral detailing embellished with Swarovski crystals, creating a timeless and sophisticated look for the ceremony. Later in the evening, I attached feather detailing to the top, transforming it into a completely different look for the reception. Finally, I removed the overskirt to reveal a sparkling crystal party dress underneath—giving me three bridal looks in one dress, each perfectly suited to a different part of the celebration.
Comfort was just as important to me as style. I wore flat shoes underneath my gown for most of the day and later changed into white sneakers from Blu Betty, allowing me to celebrate and dance the night away. The sneakers featured a subtle touch of leopard print, a fun little detail. Leopard print was incorporated very subtly throughout our wedding as a signature element of our décor and styling.
I've never been one for lots of jewellery, so I kept my accessories simple and elegant. I wore silver crystal earrings and a delicate crystal hairpiece, allowing the dress to remain the focal point while adding just the right amount of sparkle.
Looking back, every detail reflected who I am. Nothing felt overdone or forced—it was elegant, natural, comfortable, and uniquely ours.

We got married at The Erf in Napier, and from the moment we arrived, we knew it was the perfect place for us. Nestled amongst beautiful trees and overlooking the breathtaking Overberg landscape, the venue offered the ideal balance of woodland charm and expansive countryside views.
We were incredibly blessed with a perfectly still autumn evening. There wasn't a breath of wind, and soft rays of sunshine filtered through the trees, creating a peaceful, romantic atmosphere. It truly felt as though nature had come together to celebrate with us.
One of our favourite features of the venue was the spacious wooden deck, where our guests enjoyed pre-drinks before the reception. Overlooking the rolling Overberg, it was the perfect place for everyone to gather, take in the incredible views, and soak up the atmosphere before the evening celebrations began.
Our family and friends stayed at a variety of guesthouses, self-catering cottages, and accommodation in and around Napier and Bredasdorp. To make the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, we arranged shuttle services to transport guests between their accommodation and the venue throughout the evening, allowing everyone to relax and celebrate safely.
