Magical Moments

Our wedding day was a blissful blessing. Everything fell in place so perfectly. There were no hiccups or blunders, just pure fun.

Even though it was cloudy, we didn't experience any rain and our outdoor ceremony could still take place.

The most special part of the wedding was just after the ceremony. We decided to honour each other by washing the other's feet. It was a pure moment filled with humility and love.

The rest of day (and night) was filled with friends and family just having a great time. The dancefloor was rarely empty and if it was it was to eat! We had a pure kids fest for dinner - pizzas, burgers, waffles and doughnuts. Everyone helped themselves and had the best time.

Even though we had to leave at 21:00 (thanks curfew), the day was so blessed that it felt like midnight.

The Honeymoon

What was supposed to be a Zanzibar holiday turned into a roadtrip along the R62. We decided that the risk was too big to travel overseas and that it would be better to stay local.

Our first two nights were spent in De Rust at The Travelling Tortoise. With the nearest signs of civilization being 20km away, we had a chance to connect without any disturbances. We had no cell service. It was a blissful experience completed with books and hot tubs.

The next two nights were spent in Robertson at the Assegaai Lancewood Tipi Lodge. A wonderful experience next to a river surrounded by nature. We took our time to explore wine farms and restaurants all over.

The last three nights were spent a little closer to civilization - at St Helena Bay. We stayed in a beautiful Air B&B and just enjoyed the seaside.

My Special Day

I was so blessed with my wedding dress. The first boutique I walked into had my dress! And it was on sale! Tying the Knot Bridal Boutique was absolutely fantastic in helping me find my dress. I wanted a plain dress with no frills, lace or beading. They were the only place I visited that had my perfect dress.

My shoes - also on sale! Beige suede shoes, with a block heel that I would be able to keep on the whole day of the wedding. While visiting my now husband's parents for the holidays I found my shoes at Aldo, only a size too big. They helped me find my size at a store in Cape Town - where we were off to after the festive season.

I decided to do my own hair and makeup, as I knew what I wanted and how to do it. With a limited budget, being able to do my own hair and makeup was a real and true save.

I opted to wear my everyday jewellery, along with some heirlooms. I wore my Nomination bracelet and necklace. My earrings were an heirloom, which was altered by Vdodili. I borrowed a ring from my mother, which also served as something blue.

The Venue

We had a destination wedding at Pine Lake Marina. Our guests were also able to stay at the resort.

Wedding Elements

Another save - our décor was mostly free.
We bought glassware from Mr Price Home and The Plastic Warehouse.

Pine Lake Marina provided tablecloths, crockery and cutlery. They also did the ceiling décor with draping and fairy lights.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom's tuxedo was from Eurosuit Canal Walk.
His bowtie was from H&M.

The groomsmen wore chino pants from Markhams, along with white shirts.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I made the bridesmaids dresses. I work as an entrepreneur for my own brand, Graceful.

Marriage Officer

De Waal Esterhuizen (legal)
Retief Uys (ceremony)

My Captured Moments

Our amazing photographer was Judy from Just Judy Photography. She captured every moment so beautifully and professionally. The quality is amazing and we would make the same choice over and over again.
Our videographer was from All About Photography. We are able to relive every moment from our special day.

The Wedding Planner

We had no official coordinator. Anel Barnardo from Pine Lake Marina helped us with everything regarding the venue. The rest we arranged ourselves.

Wedding Transport

The only transport was to get the bride to the altar via boat, thanks to Pine Lake Marina once again.

Food & Cake

Pine Lake Marina provided the food.
Bakers Corner did the wedding cake.

Wedding Stationery

Zandri Daneel from ZD Design Studio

The Reception and Entertainment

We had a lovely reception. DJ Andy Cue provided the best music. We danced the night away (until 21:00)
He was professional and listened and adhered to every request we had for the day
