Magical Moments

Every bride will tell you the day flew by, in a whirlwind of memories, laughter and tears, I did have a few special moments. After , moving our wedding thanks to Covid and waiting 10 years to get married, I did not expect the day to be a whirlwind or be as amazing as everyone said it would be. Thankfully, every moment exceeded my expectations and it was the best day of my life Thus far. Top moments of the day.

Arriving and seeing my dad waiting for me (he was very ill and worked super hard to walk me down the aisle, with no crutches or walking stick - and he didn’t need either).
Laughing. I remember laughing from the moment I got there till the moment I left.
My veil flew off twice during the ceremony.
The speeches were phenomenal. (My husbands speech was possibly the best 8 minutes he has ever spoken. I was super proud.)
The dance floor was never empty and neither was the bar. It was perfect.

The Honeymoon

We had a mini honeymoon due to Covid. We went to Safari Plains in Bela Bela for a weekend in a luxury tent. It was stunning but way too short. We are hoping to have a real honeymoon. Like the one we lost our deposit on (a Trip on the Trans Siberian train from Russia through to China). #holdingthumbs #keepingpositive

My Wedding Inspiration

My Special Day

The overall look was extremely natural. The wind in Jeffreys Bay is extremely strong, so we had to pin my hair up and used a bottle of hairspray. But, as you can see, not even that helped. Make-up wise: it was very plain and natural. And dress wise: We found the most amazing wedding dress a month prior to the wedding. I was worried that it would be too "sexy" for my mum, but she loved it. I did only show her on the day of the wedding, so if she did not like it, it would be a bit late to do anything about it

The Venue

Happy Hippo - Seekoeierivier. (Paradise Beach, Jeffreys Bay, Port Elizabeth)
This is a little farm just outside Jeffreys bay in a place called Paradise Beach. They were able to host my family and friends, but only 80 could come (as we had covid restrictions to follow). The farm was perfect though as the wedding was a festival vibe, everyone had picnic baskets to welcome them and then games after the ceremony and a band playing and then ice cream to indulge on. After the speeches we had food trucks and everything was laid back and perfect. The farm overlooks a river and all day long you could feed the farm animals and explore.

My guests all flew in from Johannesburg. We had multiple accommodations including; Moya Manzi Beach House, Sola Fide Residence, Paradise Sands Unit 7, Aguia-Vista luxury apartments and Flamingo strand Beach House all located in Paradise Beach.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I am a bit of a fitness addict. I love my Zumba and did that four times a week. Every Sunday we do a family 5km walk and I love my Gym classes at Planet Fitness.
I work out every day except Friday :)
This is about the closest it gets to a beauty regime for me, I was highly disappointed as I had a cyst cut out of my upper cheek under my right eye a month and a half before the wedding and got my nine stitches taken out a few weeks before the wedding. That was the difficult thing to cover, however my friend Garth did my make up and did an amazing job. Thank you Garth!

Wedding Elements

We got engaged in 2016 and since that day I have been making all the decor for my wedding. I made every single table piece (thank you to my family for drinking so much wine and collecting dog tins for me). We only rented the picnic baskets and basic arch, which we decorated with all the decor I had made and collected. I was so happy and proud of everything and grateful to my amazing guests who helped set up. Thank you to pep home and china mall as well for the never ending arts and crafts supplies.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husband and I only chose one person each. We were on a tight budget and the best man found awesome pants and shirts from woolworths and the oriental Plaza in Johannesburg. The same as the Groom. This was a much more affordable option and they chose the clothes the wanted to wear and thus meant they could use them after the wedding too. #winning

Beautiful Bridesmaids

One bridesmaid= the best decision ever. My Bridesmaid was a soldier for the day and did amazingly. She chose her outfit from Woolworths, I wanted her to be comfotable and I knew should wouldn't in a dress or anything too fancy and what she was comfortable in was a pants and top outfit. It looked perfect and was something she could use time and time again. Excellent.

Marriage Officer

Pastor Wim was the best pastor ever. He went through the day with us beforehand and wanted to actually get to know us so he could personalise our ceremony. Our ceremony was short and sweet and everyone complimented us on the pastor.

Equally at home with personalised contemporary non-religious as well as traditional religious ceremonies, Wim is the Eastern Cape's popular and well-respected non-denominationa...

My Captured Moments

Videographer - Twenty Twenty Films
Max and Lara are phenomenal and captured every moment and every detail. The choice of music was perfect and the fact that the video captured the feelings of the day is unbelievable.
Photographer - Segerius Bruce Photography
Our Photographer had our photos ready in ONE WEEK!! They were perfect and captured the day in a way I never thought was possible. He got tears, laughter and smiles. I am super thrilled.

The Wedding Planner

Nope. But my family and friends were amazing in helping me do everything. As well as the owner of the venue who let us come in early and set everything decor wise up and she took care of the snacks and the food truck owners took care of the food. Actually not that much to coordinate.

Wedding Transport

My uncles rented van - Avis. (Not the highest priority for me lol)

Food & Cake

We had the most amazing food vendors
Seekoeierivier did the picnic baskets in the beginning and the ice cream cones to snack on.
We had a
Mexican Food truck (the Mexican)
Indian food truck (the spice box)
Portuguese dessert stand (obrigado)
And coffee stand (Infood Coffee society)
My aunts made our cake :)

Wedding Stationery

No one. I did a personalised video for each guests with a photo collage and detailed invite and WhatsApped the individual guests their invites.

The Reception and Entertainment

Harry from Synergy Audio was unbelievable. What a party we had and the sound quality was excellent.

As for dancing lessons, no such thing existed for us. We ended up just swaying and singing along to our wedding song :).
