Magical Moments

The highlight of our wedding was the fact that it finally happened! We had our proposal in June 2019 and got engaged in August 2019. Our original wedding date that we chose was 9th August 2020. But pf course, as a result of the lockdown we were forced to postpone the date. Truly one of the most heartbreaking things for a bride to do. We then settled on 21st March 2021 as our new date. I wanted to stick to a public holiday to ensure that we always get to spend this day together.

The day of our wedding, was filled with a lot of highlighting moments. My eldest brother who is also a Moulana in our religion (Islamic Leader) is the one who performed my wedding ceremony. This was a dream of mine since I was a little girl.

Another highlight was the fact that I walked into my venue ALL BY MYSELF! I dedicated my walk in to my beloved mum who has been my first and forever best friend.

A completely unexpected surprise which is one of the most special highlights on this special day, was the message/presentation put together by my other brother who lives overseas and unfortunately as a result of the restrictions could not make it down. That brought every single person in the hall to tears - it was so heartwarming and emotional to read what my brother, sister in law, niece and nephew all had to say. Also, a major highlight was being able to have him Skyped in so that they could watch the whole ceremony and be with us virtually.

The Honeymoon

Yes! We had the most magical honeymoon in the Maldives which was such a beautiful gift from my uncle in law who stays in Canada and could also unfortunately not join us as a result of the restrictions.

We spent 7 days at the beautiful resort of Sun Siyam Oluvheli. This place was absolutely magical and we are so blessed to be able to tick this off our bucket list! I can definitely say though, the only place my husband wants to ever go on holiday to is the Maldives!

Apart from the unending natural beauty that Maldives has to offer, we built such amazing relationships with the friendliest staff from Sun Siyam Oluvheli!

My Special Day

Okay so! I am known for being unique and always being true to myself and that is exactly what the order of my wedding day was!

Let's start with my wedding gown. I purchased my wedding gown from La Principessa in Sandton during 2019. I also purchased material from Minty's in Durban in 2019 - this material was colourful and was made of flowers.
I then contacted the best designed in JHB, Renata Kuzak Couture who put it all together for me. She so elegantly combined the gorgeous flower work onto my dress, she sewed my Hijab and inner top to ensure my gown was Hijab friendly. Truly such an amazing woman to work with!

My makeup artist was the one and only - Donique Leonard from FlawlessMakeup by Donique - GIRLS!! Let me tell you, this lady is beyond perfect at what she does. No caking, no faking! She's the real deal! I truly believed she just enhanced my natural features leaving me feeling beyond beautiful and comfortable in my own skin! She understood the kind of person I am and did my makeup in a way that highlights myself and my personality. Also, the energy, love and laughter that she brings on your wedding day is an absolute must. Every bride needs it! Oh and I have to mention that I cried, laughed and sweated in this makeup the entire day - my face was still as flawless at night as it was in the morning of. Not even my lipstick budged, not a single crack on my face!

My hijab (headscarf) was done by the talented Draped by Naeema. She is so creative and her work is amazing! I was comfortable the entire day, and after being hugged, squashed and endless moving around, my Hijab did not budge and sat firmly and comfortable on me the entire day!

And just because I was wearing a Hijab does not mean I did not get my hair done! After all, it was my special day and I wanted to make sure when my husband removes my scarf, his jaw drops to the floor! I used Tayyiba who goes by Ooh my hair on social media. My hair sat perfectly in an elegant upstyle despite being shoved under my Hijab and even after all the hugging and moving, when I took my hijab off at night, my husband was stunned at my gorgeous upstyle. To make things more perfect, when we took the upstyle down, my hair sat so lusciously with such volume curls making our first night even more special!
