Magical Moments

It was a weekend of celebration. The Friday night's braai at the accommodation provided the ideal opportunity for all the guests to to get to know each other.

The ceremony next to the waterfalls was very special and romantic. The response of my dad when he saw the special message I wrote for him on the hessian runner I will never forget. The look on my then future husbands face when he saw me for the first time in my wedding dress.

The donkey cart provided for beautiful pictures and is very unique. The guests found this very entertaining and took beautiful pictures.

The log cabin as a hall for the reception is something we have not experienced in our lives before. It is such an idyllic venue and reminds of a cabin deep in the mountains surrounded by nature's most beautiful face. We will never forget the proud feeling walking into the hall. Our first dance as a newly wed couple and the tears coming to my husbands eyes explaining to the guests why he loves me so much. The presentation my husband prepared and had projected on to the wall with the theme "My Alles" translated as my everything, was very special.

The whole wedding venue provides for extra special photos.

The Honeymoon

Our honeymoon was like a dream come true.
It consisted of two awesome weeks.
1ste week we went to Knysna where we experienced Ziplining high up in the trees of the Tsitsikamma forest. Quadbiking on farm roads and a visit to the Motorbike Museum. A sunset cruise to the Knysna Heads. A visit to the African giants at the Knysna Elephant Park. Walking in the Garden of Eden visiting the most beautiful views nature offers.
2nd week we went to North West Province being guests at the Kedag Heritgae Lodge. A thrilling day visit to Gold Reef City. It also included a visit to Sun City, Pilanesberg National Park and Akwaaba Lodge lion park.
We had the most fun filled two weeks together.

My Special Day

I hired my wedding dress at Special Occasions.
It was a Champagne dress with Ivory lace gold thread and full lace back buttons.
I was wearing silver high heals and after the ceremony I change the high heals for my white wedding tekkies with the words Mrs. Groenewald on the one shoe and the date on the other shoe.
I also wore ear rings and a armband witch goes with the dress.
My hair and make-up was done by Christelle Lourens a hairdresser from Snippets Hair Salon.

The Venue

We got married at Nightjar Wedding Venue which forms part of De Uijlenes.
The ceremony was held at the open air old koffieklip chapel next to a waterfall and overlooking the dam and fynbos covered mountains serves as the perfectly location to say I do.
The pre drinks and snacks was held under the shade of a giant tree.
The venue was held in the log cabin reception venue. Build by hand with materials largely sourced from the farm or valley and smell of lumber still in the air. There is a nice fire place inside the venue which ads to a romantic atmosphere. A large fire pit outside brings the wedding guest together.
The rustic charm of the venue gives you natures freedom.
The Venue also has a full bar service including glassware, ice and barmen.
The Venue offers accommodation for 50 guests for two nights which is included in the venue price.
Accommodation at Nightjar offers 8 en-suite stable rooms and the original farm house for accommodation.
There are two rooms, two bathrooms and upstairs loft in the farmhouse.
Four of the 8 en-suite rooms sleeps 4 people per room and the other 4 sleep one couple per room.
There are a communal kitchen and lounge area inside the old thatched farm house. The kitchen has a also have a build-in-braai.
There is also a wood-fired hot tub with a beautiful view of the dam and mountain for quest to use.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

The only thing that was important was to stay healthy in this covid time.

Wedding Elements

I wanted a Fairy Tale Wedding and that is why I decide to do most of the décor myself. My friends assisted me to decorate the venue and ceremony area.
I decided that there are not going to be any real flowers at my wedding and also no candles.
The only place there were candles was at the table where we sign the wedding register.
The flowers I made out of white paper and then spray it the colour scheme of my wedding. In total I made 1600 flowers.
I used tins as part of the bouquets. They were sprayed white and around the middle I tied a sky blue lace.
The completed bouquets I placed on the tables and in the Ceremony area.
I also designed and made flower bouquets for the back of the chairs which had white covers over them.
For underplates I used white doilies with each guest name on it.
I only used light blue runners for the tables (no table cloths) to keep the rustic look.
Made small cones out of light blue lace with peppermint sweets in for each guest.
The thank you gifts for the guests was succulents which was also part of the decoration on the tables.
The napkins I fold shirts for the men and dresses for the ladies.
Made white stars to hang down from the roof and also outside at the big tree where the pre drinks and snacks was.
Made dusty blue cones for the confetti. Confetti was lavendar.
I colour the sand different tipes of blue and throw it into little glass bottles and hang it also in the big tree at the pre drink area.
I bought plastic blue flowers and made my bridesmaids and my own bouquets.
Also bought light blue plastic roses which was use for the groom and groomsmen.
I took hessian and made a runner for the ceremony area with a message on it for my dad. And on the sides sprinkled it with dusty blue hearts and stars.
I hired a little bird cage and put the bouquet for the ladies inside as I was not going to throw my one. The bird cage was closed with a lock. Each lady got a chance to get the bouquet by trying one of the keys that hang around the bird cage.
This provided for a lot of fun and seemed to be very enjoyable.
The fairy lights and draping in the venue area we hired from Husband Wife Team Weddings & Events.
The fairy lights outside at the braai area and in the ceremony area forms part of De Uijlenes décor.
It proofed to be hard work, but also fun to do all my décor myself (with the help of my husband).

The Groomsmen were wearing only Lucca Navy Trousers.
They all wore white Shirts with blue patches on the elbows.
The Ties were Sky Blue.
The Socks was black with message for each one on it.
The Suites we Hired at Mr Suite Hire.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The Bridesmaids wore long infinty Dusty Blue dresses.
We hired it at Special Occasions.

Marriage Officer

Marriage Officer was: Albertus van der Westhuyzen

My Captured Moments

We obtained the services of One Beat Photography.
Gert and his wife Seugnet.
They are the best photographers that anyone can ask for.
When things got to a point where everything was too much to handle, Gert took me and my two bridesmaids together with his wife and said a prayer asking that everything must go well.
He also assisted by sorting out small problems that did not form part of his job.
They are two amazing people that just know how to calm a person during stressful situations. We had so much fun taking the pictures and laughed a lot.
We would definitely recommended them for any one who needs a photographer.

The Wedding Planner

The venue provided a coordinator, Danelle du Toit, who assisted us with all the Q and A leading up to the big day.
On the day we were given another coordinator by De Uijlenes, called Liam to assist Danelle.
They were both great.

Wedding Transport

As we stayed on the premises the Friday night no transport to the venue was required. Leaving the ceremony our transport was a donkey cart with the most adorable two donkeys.
This we hire from De Uijlenes.

Food & Cake

The food was prepared by Chef Maurice, who is the Chef at De Uijlenes.
The menu was tradional boerekos and poeding.
The guest loved it and almost everyone went for seconds.

The wedding cake consisted of three sections stacked on top of each other. The bottom two were foamelite dummies and the top section a real cake. Blue roses in the same shades as the wedding colour scheme were draped around the cake. At the very top of the cake we placed a cute wedding couple.
Lizzie my cousin's wife and two bridesmaids made the cake.
For the guest we made cupcakes and put it out on the cake table in a pattern making it look like a wedding dress.

Wedding Stationery

I made my own invites.
I also made the table numbers; Welcome board; Table layout; Dance Rules Poster and Program Menu for the guest myself.
Also made a guest poster where each guest can right down a message.

The Reception and Entertainment

The reception was held at the Nightjar Wedding Venue.
It is a Log cabin romance and rustic bliss, this one takes some beating. Natures beauty really does provide an awesome backdrop and gives a very natural and relaxed vibe to this venue.
It is suitable for smaller intimate weddings like the one we had.
No we didn't take dance lessons.
The fairy lights was all we needed.
We had a great DJ, Jaco Meissenheimer who also acted as MC. He provided all the music at the ceremony and at the reception. He did a great job.
