Magical Moments

Our wedding day is definitely one of my most precious memories that I will forever treasure in my heart. I can remember waking up that morning and jumping out of bed, not because of excitement but, it started raining! For a moment I wanted to panic but, soon realised that the Lord was blessing our wedding day. I have to admit, I felt quite cool and calm and did not really stress about anything untill....
We arrived at the hotel room and as my bridesmaids and I were busy unpacking our dresses I saw that I had the wrong veil with me. I just laughed. I had to. This was only one of the few things that went wrong on that day. When the wedding car arrived and I had to get in, that is when reality hit me. I am getting married today! While driving to the venue I started feeling overwhelmed and I could feel the tears running down my cheeks.
This was a very big moment for me. I can remember walking down the aisle and seeing all the faces around me which made me feel more overwhelmed but, when I looked up I saw my husband standing and waiting for me. This is my favourite memory and the biggest highlight of our wedding day. The one thing I will always remember - the emotions that we all experienced and having all my family and closest friends under one roof. This was a magical moment.

The Honeymoon

We did not really have a honeymoon. Long before we decided to start with the wedding planning and arrangements we planned a family trip. So, after the wedding we went on our family trip to the Portugese islands.
We are definitely planning on having a honeymoon, but before that happens we have a few other things to attend to.

My Special Day

For a few years I took part in pageants and people were used to seeing me in dresses with lots of detail, my hair was always down and curly and the make-up well, it was not very natural.
So, with my wedding day I wanted to do exactly the opposite. A plain dress, natural make-up and my hair tied back in a low bun. That was it! At first I wanted to go for a wedding dress that is tight fitted with a long trail and no detail on. I think it was my fifth dress that I fitted on when I realised that this is the one! It was nothing like I imagined. It was even more beautiful. It was a real princess "fairytale like" dress. The corset was beaded with small white pearls and that is how I decided on my earrings.
I got my dress from Richelles in Durbanville and my make-up and hair was done by Moonorchid. I will highly recommend both of my service providers as I believe they are the best!

The Venue

We wanted our wedding to be very homey and down to earth. We did not want to have an uptight and very fancy wedding and that is why we decided to get married at Altydlig venue. The food was AMAZING and everyone loved it. Think of "Sunday lunch". Chicken pie, roasted potatoes, pumpkin fritters, broccoli smothered in cheese and the list goes on.
