Getting ready with my best friends, sister and sons was very special. Walking down the isle with my youngest son, towards my soon-to-be-husband on the beach, our happy place. The wind was blowing, but nothing could take away from the picturesque setting on the beach with our closest friends and family. We had lots of fun taking photos with our children on the beach, before going on a private shoot to the harbour and the southern most lighthouse at Cape Agulhas. Our reception was at a beach restaurant and was fun dancing in the sand and spending the evening with everyone.
Our wedding was held in Struisbaai, my hometown. We decided to also have our honeymoon there and spend quality time at the sea and on the beach.
Casual beach wedding. I planned my dress along with my extremely talented designer, Petri van der Merwe. She made my dress from ivory duchess satin, French Chantilly lace and tulle layers. I went bare feet with just a bracelet and pearl earrings made by my friend, Christelle Faul. Upstyle curly hair with gyps was done by Marthilet Erasmus, Capelli Hair Salon. Make-up done by Maridene Mostert.
We got married on one of the longest stretches of white sand in the southern hemisphere, Struisbaai. The reception was at a beach restaurant, Sea Shack.
I didn't really have any special beauty regime apart from having my feet and nails done regularly, taking very good care of my skin (facials) and eating healthy foods.
90% of the décor I made myself. From candles, lace covered bottles for the flowers (white roses and gyps), message in a bottle tray, marshmallow tumblers for the kids etc. Carin Brink provided the runners and extra décor, such as the beautiful fairy lights.
The groom wore light beige pants and a aqua shirt, bare feet on the beach.
No groomsmen - was a small, intimate wedding.
Didn't have bridesmaids.

We didn't have dance lessons. A friend of ours does wedding music and is a professional singer, so he did the music for us.
