Magical Moments

We found out that i had covid the night before our wedding. It left us with having to make one of the most difficult decisions, to cancell our formal wedding. It took a moment for it to sink in, but we knew that we still wanted to get married, so we did - on Zoom!

The next day, we set up the laptop, I put on a dress from H&M and we got married 'in front' of our closest friends and family. It truly is such an amazing thing to think about actually, because I got to marry my best friend TWICE!

We had our photoshoot at Au de Hex on the 18th of January 2021 which was truly magical. Now, we get to tell a story with two completely different sides to it. On the one side, I had covid and we couldn't have our 'dream' wedding or honeymoon, but on the other, we have such a cool story to tell! How things may look like the worst, but end up being the best thing that could have ever happened to you.

The Honeymoon

Our honeymoon was in our livingroom because I had covid. Fortunately, my husband never got the virus - yay! We spent two weeks watching series and eating snacks (I couldn't taste anything - ha!). It was still really fun. We are planning on taking a trip to Liverpool to watch a Liverpool game on Anfield for our honeymoon in 2022. They are my husband's favourite team, so what better way to celebrate our love than with thousands of other people cheering on :)

My Special Day

I loved my whole look! I used to think that I wanted a dramatic look, but fell in love with the simplicity of my dress.

My first wedding's look was created with a dress from H&M and the hair and makeup was done by me.

The second was a bit more fancy! My dress is from The Wedding Boutique, hair was done by Nastassia (Tosca), and makeup by Leandré van Rooyen. My shoes are custom made by Espadril and earrings from Ela Bella. The robe I wore when getting ready was from Bras and Things. I would highly recommend each of these vendors!

The Venue

I got married at home in Stellenbosch!

We had our photoshoot at Au de Hex estate in Wellington. Our friends all stayed the night in the guest house that is on site. After the mini dinner and photoshoot, we had a relaxing evening by the swimming pool.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I lost 30kg in the two years leading up to the wedding. I had the best trainer at Virgin Active in Stellenbosch, Wayne Mulder, who pushed me to become a healthier version of myself. I didn't start losing weight for the wedding, but it made me feel even more confident on the day.

Wedding Elements

Baie Goeters did the decor and flowers for our wedding. The theme was jewel tones with the focus being on emerald green. It was absolutely beautiful and truly felt homey.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

All of the groomsmen and the groom wore suits from Euro Suit. Fun fact, one groomsmen didn't have his suit at the wedding, so he had to get his chino from home - if you look closely you'll be able to see the difference.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I had the privilege of having Nadia Beeslaar from NVW the label design and create the dresses for our bridesmaids. She is absolutely amazing at what she does and truly helped make my besties look and feel the best!

Marriage Officer

Pastor Louis Paulus from Unite180!

My Captured Moments

Micke from Mick Creative was our lovely photographer and Gustav from Gustav Films was our very talented videographer. They both put so much time and effort into capturing our special day! They were also so sweet in allowing us to move the date of our wedding at the last minute.

The Wedding Planner

I didn't have a planner, but used Kerel & Nooi's wedding planning guide - it was an absolute life saver!

Food & Cake

Per te confectionery made our wedding cake. She was kind enough to deliver it to our home where we got married. We ate wedding cake for over a week - it was amazing!

Jacques from Au de Hex made dinner for us when we had our mini reception in January. All of our guests raved about it!

The Reception and Entertainment

We had our mini reception on the 18th of January, which only lasted two hours. We had dinner, a few speeches and then left to take photos. We booked Southern Sound as our DJ, but unfortunately we weren't able to have them at our reception.
