How did your love story begin?

We met almost exactly 6y ago to the day of our wedding date - we met on Clifton 2nd beach. Grant then msgd me on FB msgr and the rest is history! We were inseparable from the very beginning:) it felt so effortless and natural and have been besties ever since. We have been through so much together and grown a lot together, our bond feels unique and our love raw and real.

Tell us all about the proposal.

I was completely surprised as I didn’t see it coming! We spoke about marriage all the time however I didn’t know it was coming this weekend. Grant woke me up one morning, at our holiday home in Clanwillaim, with our pup Snoopy, who he had tied the ring to around his neck with a red ribbon. We drank champagne that morning at 8am and continued drinking bubbles for the next 7 days celebrating our engagement- it was absolutely perfect:)

Magical Moments

My wedding day was magical. Being surrounded by my nearest and dearest for the 3 day celebration was so special and memorable. With only 35 guests it was super intimate and gave us lots of time to connect with all of ours guests over the weekend. Seeing our ceremonial space for the first time was breathtaking, a moment I'll remember forever. Also seeing how all our guests were in awe of this beautiful space was very special. Another highlight was seeing my husband for the fist time, wearing my beautiful dress - it was very emotional. Some other highlights include the pilgrimage we did on foot from the reception area to the ceremonial space. We had music playing and it as such a beautiful start to the love ceremony that awaited us. Having both our fur children there for the ceremony dressed in their adorable collars was a highlight too. Reciting our vows to one another was so deep and raw and emotional and something ill cherish forever. Another specials memory was seeing how emotional every one of our guests were during the ceremony - a collective consciousness of love felt and shared.

The Honeymoon

We spent another 2 nights with some friends at the magical Planet Xancara where we got married. Decompressed and reminisced. My husband and I then went on to spend two nights in Yzerfontein as a minimoon which he surprised me with. A beautiful airbnb we bunkered down for two days - braai'd , took bubble baths, played chess, drank wine, netflix and chilled, napped and took long walks on the beach with our doggies. We plan to do an exotic honeymoon once travel restrictions lift. Maybe somewhere tropical or the bush:)

My Wedding Inspiration

My Special Day

My wedding was boho&relaxed and non traditional. I wore a short satin blush coloured dress for when my guests arrived. With the most gorgeous dried flower crown. I felt like a princess. I wanted to be able to mingle and have drinks and chats with my friends as not to miss out on half the day:) I later changed into my wedding gown and did the traditional reveal for the ceremony. My dress was flowy, made with silk which danced in the wind. My hair had a wavy curl, with some dried flowers pinned in the back. My make up subtle and bronzed. My heels were block heels, srrappy nude which were so comfortable and i danced in all night. I wore gold hoops and lots of fun gold studs in all my piercings and a classic dainty diamond pendant around my neck. My nails were painted nude and my toenails a metallic bronze. I felt so beautiful.

The Venue

The magical Planet Xancara on the west coast. A desert oasis filled with rich heritage and where deep connections to nature, oneself and others is guaranteed . We had most of our guests stay at the camp with us over the 4 days and because space was limited, the rest of our guests stayed a few km down the road at Vensterklip or in Elandsbay.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I train daily - barre and running as well as healthy eating, which is part of my regular routine anyways, however i made a conscious effort to eat healthier and tried to eat less chocolate and bread. I did this for 4 months as i didn't want to do anything too drastic leading up to the wedding. By eating consciously and over a 4 month period, it made it easier to stick to and i also allowed myself a few cheats at times.

I went for a Fraxel Laser treatment and Photo facial in the 3 months leading up to wedding the CDC Cosmetic Dermatology Centre high was running a great special at the time. the month before wedding i did a dermapen and a light peel with The Brow Lady Danielle Rau. My skin looked bright and flawless. I was very happy with the results and will contuse the maintenance of these treatments. And my hubby spoiled us with a massage the weekend before!

Wedding Elements

Almost all decor was done by @milqandhoney. I sent Kelly and Chad a mood board and they did all the conceptualising , planning, hiring, logistics and actualising . The look and feel as boho - earthy tones, raw rock, veld and dried flowers and pampas , persian rugs and scatter pillows creating cuddle puddles all over! My Dads gf also did a lot of the flowers as she used to own a floral shop. She made the most beautiful flower crown i wanted to wear all weekend long! The ceremonial space was an oasis set away from the main camp, corner to corner persian rugs, scatter pillows, a palm leaf arch all nestled under a rock wall 5 stories high which was glowing in the afternoon sunlight and decorated to perfection.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husband wore beige linen pants made by the same designer who made my dress @deeva_wed They fit perfectly. His linen shirt was from H&M, an off white colour and bron leather shoes Fabiani. He didn't have any groomsman.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I didn't have any bridesmaids either however my twin sister was unofficially my maid of honour She looked stunning. She wore a full length satin slip dress, oyster coloured with deep v neck. Designer @fateandlovebridal

Marriage Officer

Lesley Uys officially married us a few days prior at our home in Cpt. My sister and brother in law were our witnesses Chad from Milq and honey did our ceremony for us on our wedding day. It was based on love and truth and balance. We called it a love ceremony and was very spiritual and deep and personal and emotional.

My Captured Moments

I booked my dream photographers - Mischa Durrant and Ayeh.. I have been friendly with and following these two girls and their work for years. I love the way they capture beautiful moments rather than posed pics.
