Magical Moments

One of the highlights that no one would ever forget is that everybody at the wedding were attacked by bugs during the reception and we had to put our fairy lights off for a while. While we were taking photos with the bridal party as well there were small bugs all over us and we had to pause every few minutes to clean our dresses. Heads up to our photographers for editing all the bugs out of our photos.

Another memorable moment was the tangible presence of God that we felt when we sang "The Blessing". It is truly a moment one cannot describe in words.

Another highlight was finding out after the ceremony that we forgot the rings at the house where we prepared and that the photographer, family and bridesmaids made a quick plan to get it without anybody really realizing that is wasn't at the ceremony.

The Honeymoon

We did go on honeymoon, although we really wanted to go overseas it wasn’t possible because of borders still being closed to most countries but I wouldn’t exchange the places where we went for any other place. We went to Copia Eco Cabins near Botrivier for the first few days and to end it off we went to Cape Town since I have only been there when I was still a child. It was beyond our expectations!!

My Special Day

My wedding look was classic, yet modern. Since I started dreaming about my big day I always knew that although I am a very plain and simple, I want to stand out on my wedding day and look exactly the opposite.
I went for a classic A-line wedding gown with floral lace. The back detail was one of my favorite parts of my wedding dress as well as the bit of glitter sparkle my dress had. I got my dress from Bridal Emporium in Bloemfontein and couldn't be more satisfied with the service I received. My hair was curled with a french braid since I always loved how braids look in my hair this was a non-negotiable style for my hair. My hair was done by Done by Alicia, also one of my best friends. My make-up was done my Make-Up artistry by Micayla. Micayla was also a non-negotiable on my wedding. For any occasions I always prefer her to do make-up since there is not many with her talent in our area. My shoes were a plain nude, block heel from Forever New. All jewellery that I wore was a bracelet and earrings, both from Lovisa. My garter was custom made by one of our pastors in our church that was inspired by a photo that I showed her and it was also given as a gift.

The Venue

We got married on our family game farm - Savanna Game Estate. It was approximately 35km out of Kimberley, where most of our guests live but we provided accommodation at the game lodge on our farm for guests that travelled far & for guests that wanted to sleep over.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I really struggled with acne & just decided that I must get my skin better before my wedding. I started going for facials 4 months prior to our wedding date and also started using the Kalahari Skin Care range which was recommended by Charica Smit, owner of Blissful Beauty Day Spa.

I went for teeth whitening and a massage (that was a gift) prior to the wedding as well at Infinity Health Medical Centre and Grandeur Le Clinique. I also continued with my regular exercising 3 times a week.

Wedding Elements

We rented everything (cutlery, crockery, tables, chairs etc.) since the wedding was on our family game farm and it wasn't equipped as a wedding venue. We used Nigel Londt as a wedding coordinator and he handled all the hiring and decorations. He also set up the ceremony and reception area.
We had a structure with fairy lights to light up the reception area and to give it character. We used Lighticle also from Bloemfontein since there isn't many service providers that could assist us in Kimberley.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

We bough the groom's suit at Markham and his tie at Woolworths.
We went for two-toned look with a navy pants with a light blue blazer.
The groom and his groomsmen wore white Old Khaki shirts.
The groomsmen also wore navy suspenders with navy bow ties.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids wore a dirty pink dress with a semi-open back which looked beautiful. We bought their dresses at YDE.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer is also our pastor at our local church - Ps Gerhard de Klerk.
A big heads up for the pre-marital counselling that we received. I would recommend it for anybody before they get married or even before they get engaged.

My Captured Moments

Our photographers and videographer were Eye Poetry Photography.
We only decided 4 days before the wedding to book a videographer as well since we realized closer to the wedding that we really wanted one.
Our photographers and videographer really set a standard and I would recommend them to anybody. They are so much more than just photographers and videographers. They really helped where necessary that day and went out of their way to make sure everything is running smoothly and to keep us calm when something didn't go according to plan.

We also rented a photo booth where the guests could take pictures.
The photo booth was done by Providence Creative.

Food & Cake

At our wedding we had canape's, a main course - which included a 'spitbraai' and side dishes as well as dessert.
It was done by Lemon Tree - a local restaurant in Kimberley.
The spitbraai was done by a local also in Kimberley. Our food was of exceptional quality.
Our cake was a gift from Cake Couture in Kimberley. It looked exactly the way I wanted it to look and tasted delicious.

Wedding Stationery

My stationery was mainly designed by Nadia Bacht from Bacht Design. She was such a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her to any one.
I also did some of the stationery by myself if it was basic stationery that I needed like the table numbers.

The Reception and Entertainment

We hired a dance floor and it was draped with fairy lights at the top. We hired a local DJ to do the sound and lighting. We weren't able to take dance lessons since we have limited vendors is our area but we did learn a few moves from YouTube videos.
