Magical Moments

What made our wedding special was that after having to postpone it three times due to these strange times we found out that I was pregnant and made the decision to have the wedding earlier.
It was super special being 19 weeks pregnant and having our little daughter there with us through it all.

A memorable moment I'll always cherish is when my dad saw me for the first time. Let's just say it was a crying session for everyone including the photographer. Another highlight was when we were saying our written vows to each other a rainbow appeared behind us and had the guests in awe.

My Wedding Inspiration

My Special Day

The wedding look that I was trying to achieve was a Golden Godess look. I opted for a golden champagne dress instead of a white dress and accessorized the look with golden pieces, even my veil had golden pearls on it.

My dress was made my a local dressmaker Lauren Olivier, who is also a family friend. She really brought the vision of a golden godess dress to life.

My makeup was done by Erin, she is an absolute artist at what she does. I was lucky enough that one of my bridesmaid is a hairdresser and had the privilege of her doing my hair aswell as the other bridesmaids hair. What a gem of a friend!

The Venue

So we decided to turn the wedding into a weekend wedding due to some of our guests traveling from far. All the wedding weekend events including the wedding itself was done on my now husband's parents farm in Sunland, Addo, PE. The name of the farm is Chicane and also host a b&b on it with several rooms that our guests stayed in. Some guests even camped it out for the weekend on the lush grass in the garden.

The weekend started off with a typical South African braai on the Friday night then the big day on the Saturday and lastly on the Sunday we hosted a few of the wedding guests for a brunch in the garden. It was the perfect wedding weekend.

Wedding Elements

The theme of the wedding I was trying to achieve was "Wild Nature". I had dreamed of this wedding for so long and really wanted to bring this vision I had to life. With the help of some family and friends at the end of the day the vision I had was most definitely brought to life.

The venue we used was a newish store that was built of the farm and after all the styling one would never say it was a boring store beforehand.

All the styling and flowers was done by family, friends and myself. The flowers we used was spekboom that we hang above the tables and firestick pieces that we had on the tables. The rest of the table was decorated with candles, feathers and porcupine quills. The venue was lit up with plenty of fairy lights that was hang between the spekboom.

We also had indoor garden seating area that became a chill/photo/speeches area.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My handsome groom Neal wore a black blazer, white shirt, black tie, brown pants and brown shoes. The groomsmen all wore black shirts and different color brown pants which made them also different from each other like the bridesmaids. The black shirts worked so well with the bridesmaid's black dresses.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

As I know not everyone is the same I decided to give my gorgeous bridesmaids the option of choosing their own dresses that suited them. I just gave them a color, which was black and gave them full reign.

It worked out great as everyone looked so stylish and felt comfortable throughout the day.

My Captured Moments

Our photographer was Nicole Jordan from Piet My Vrou Photography. She is an absolute genius at capturing all those special in the moment pictures and makes you feel so comfortable throughout the whole shoot. Her style went perfectly with the theme of the wedding and love how she captured the whole vibe of the wedding aswell.

Food & Cake

We were lucky enough to have really good cooks in the family who jumped at the chance to help out with the wedding food. My mother-in-law did all the harvest table food and the dessert which was home-made vanilla and coffee ice cream with a butterscotch sauce, YUM! The mains which was lamb potjie and butter chicken potjie was prepared by my uncle.

We decided to have a small wedding cake which we ate the Sunday afternoon with close family. The cake was made by a special friend Kayla Fick and looked just as good as it tasted.

The Reception and Entertainment

If I can some up our reception i would say it was a massive party from start to finish. We entered into to the reception as married couple to the song 'Let's get it started - Black Eyed Peas' with Neal popping a bottle of champagne and all the guests clapping to the song.

The night started off with speeches and an auctioning off of silly string which was used to spray Neal when he said his speech. It was so special yet entertaining.

Our dj Jacques Arendt is brilliant and reading a crowd because after the first dance, the dance floor was busy right until the end of the night.
