We got married in George at the NG Moedergemeente church during lockdown. There were only 20 family members at the reception, held at my parents' house, and we got to spend quality time with everyone. I enjoyed each minute of getting ready with my bridesmaids. The atmosphere was very relaxing and tranquil. When I got to the church and saw my husband, the butterflies kicked in! Our lovely photographer, Caroline Pinto Photography, captured all the special moments. We enjoyed the whole day- better than we could have ever imagined!
We took a roadtrip in the Western Cape. Our first stop was at the Marriot Protea Hotel in Mosselbay for our first night. Then we went to Hermanus for two nights at the Whale Coast Ocean Villa. It felt like family when we got there, it was very relaxing and the service was outstanding! We then traveled to Cape Town and stayed at the Crystal Towers Marriot Hotel
for three nights. It was very luxurious and clean. We got to experience the fancy breakfasts and took long baths overlooking Table mountain. Then we went to Montagu where we stayed at a nature reserve for four nights. The African Game lodge was pure bliss, very primitive. There was no electicity in the house, only a gas stove and gas geyser. We 'swiched' off completely (literally) and had the most amazing time there. All the staff members were so friendly and inviting. It was the highlight of our honeymoon.
I had natural make-up done and a half-updo hairstyle and soft curls- done by Kayla Thirion Hair and Make-up. My wedding dress was custom made at Bridal Inn. It was a A-line dress with lace at the top. It was very comfortable and easy to move in. My shoes had a short heal and was a light nude colour. I had my grandmothers' earrings on which my mother customized for my wedding. It was a dark pearl, set in white gold.
We had our ceremony at the NG Moedergemeente in George with 50 guests. We held the reception at my parents' house with only 20 family members.
I am a very natural girl, but wanted to look my best on my wedding day. I eat healthy, but leading up to my wedding day I didn't eat any refined sugars or processed foods. I went to the hairdresser to highlight my hair and only trimmed the roots, because I wanted my hair as long as possible. I did a few tan sessions (tancan) at the pharmacy to get that natural glow! I also did my lashes so that I can wake up in the mornings on my honeymoon without spending time doing my make-up in the mornings!
The decor was very subtile and elegant. We wanted a classic look. The flowers where white and we had eucalyptus and penne gam leaves. All flowers arranged our flowers. We had candles to set the atmosphere and fairy lights outside against the wall where I tossed my bouquet.
My Groom wore a black suit with a floral tie and white shirt. His Groomsmen also wore a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. The Groom's suit was tailor made at 'Amigo's Suits' and the Groomsmen's suits were hired at 'Mr. Suit Hire'.
My Bridesmaids had their dresses custom made. It was a champagne color made with soft chiffon. The Maid of honor had short sleeves and the two bridesmaids had longer sleeves. My Maid of honor had a updo bun and the two bridesmaids did a high pony with curls.
Ds. Steve van der Walt was our marriage officiant.
Caroline Pinto Photography captured all our special moments on our wedding day. She was so friendly and made us feel comfortable in front of the lens. We enjoyed our wedding shoot so much! She also took our engagement photo's, so we had time to get to know each other. She is very professional and does amazing work. Her editing skills are beautiful and each photo tells a story- she captures the more natural, unexpected moments.

'Elite Hire' did all our cutlery and 'Delicious Cakes' made our wedding cake. 'Green Cup catering' did our amazing food!
The reception was very intimate and we had our first dance, we practiced on our own without any lessons. We then had speeches, we cut the wedding cake and I tossed my bouquet! I created the wedding playlist and our best man (my brother) managed the music for us. We the enjoyed the night outside on comfy benches and chatted and danced the night away!
