Magical Moments

In the beginning of 2019 my hubby was diagnosed with melanoma (skin cancer) after a serious operation and additional skin transplant and removal of a gland to see if the cancer could have spread to his organs. So in 1 day he had 3 separate surgeons working on him. Then it was caring for the wounds that followed. 6 weeks later and back at work. We both felt closer then ever before. We knew our relationship has grown and we started talking about our future. Hubby had to go for a checkup in March 2019 and they found more cancer on his skin. This time on his ear. After a general procedure the doctor removed the growth and placed him on chemo cream that made him so sick. He was so brave. We started talking about our future more seriously in April and we made the arrangements for him to finally meet my family and ask permission to marry me. My mom agreed and then we headed to family that lived nearby. While on the trip I noticed another growth on his neck and when we returned to Bloemfontein; the doctor confirmed it was cancer. We started to think how we can afford a wedding and the treatment. So we had the idea of a surprise wedding. Hubby and I spoke to close family and told them about the idea and everyone came to help make our surprise wedding happen. Hubby sent messages to everyone saying that he wanted to ask for my hand in marriage but he wanted all our friends and family there to celebrate with us. That was it! We arranged some food to be handed out. I baked our wedding cake. I could only finish the icing of the cake at 5am on our wedding day. That was a messy business. It was the best day of our lives. Everyone that attended our wedding had fun.

The Honeymoon

We went to Clarens. Absolutely stunning first few nights.
The cold weather didn't touch any part of our bodies. Our room had the underfloor heating and a fireplace. Very romantic.

My Special Day

I made my own dress.
I made the wedding cake.
Hubby made sure all the clothes where pressed and spotless.
The groomsmen, bridesmaids, hubby and I made the paper flowers for the bouquets and other floral details.
Everything else was gifted by family.
It was a team effort.

The Venue

We got married at Optima Park . We didn't pay for the use of the park since it was public park.

Wedding Elements

Quick, easy and best all not a wedding that left us in debt, but not looking cheap.
