Magical Moments

Our day was truly blessed from the moment I woke up...

Even though our wedding was on a tight budget Kyle managed to arranged that I stay the night before our wedding day in the honeymoon suite at Toadbury hall, so I could relax and prepare my head and heart. His family had flown in from Cape Town the week prior and our house had been quite full and busy, so enjoying some “me time” before the big day was really amazing.

I woke up refreshed (with butterflies buzzing in my stomach) to a beautifully bright day in the country and knew it was going to be a blessed one. My morning started with a relaxed in-room breakfast, and since the wedding processions only started at 3:00 that afternoon I had time to soak in the beautiful ball and claw bath in my room which was divine.

The first to arrive was our photographer, who captured some precious moments in the room. She was followed by my makeup artist and a few of my girlfriends that helped me with my dress and shoes, accompanied by a glass (or two) of bubbly and alot of laughs.

Fast forward to me standing at the doors of the chapel...

I can remember myself repeating a prayer to myself while my father smiled over me. He looked content and proud and I’ll never forget he’s tears.

Walking down the isle I can remember my wedding song () filling me with tears, the words meant so much to me and my journey to this day. Kyle looked handsome and ready when he came to fetch me, and I felt relief when he whispered “you look beautiful’ in my ear.

Our pastor gave the most amazingly powerful sermon! There were many special moments of our day but if I think about it, our wedding sermon really stood out. Even our guests commented on his beautiful message after the chapel was done.

We have a blended family and another moment that touched my heart was when Kaelyn (Kyle’s daughter) and Iqra (my daughter) brought our rings to be blessed, each daughter presenting the ring to the opposite partner, Kaelyn mine and Iqra, Kyles. A special moment representing our family union together.

We wanted our wedding to be stress free and family orientated, so there were no brides maids, best men, flower girls or even an MC. With only forty guests our reception was set up as a large family table which was beautiful and intimate. The ambiance and love in the room was palpable. The informality of our wedding made for fantastic spontaneous moments as Kyle opened the mic after his speech for anyone to speak of they wanted to. There was no pressure to say speeches. Surprisingly, throughout the night we had so many people coming up to the mic to say what was on their heart. It was touching and at times comical and really priceless. Throughout the rest of the night there were special moments, from our first dance to cutting our wedding cake to line dancing on the dance floor. Our day was truly blessed and one that we will never forget.

The Venue

Our chapel and reception was held at Toadbury Hall Country Hotel in Muldersdrift.

Wedding Elements

Our decor was classically simple with a fresh country feel. We didn't want anything over the top or “flashy”. So it was soft lights, a few fairy lights on the table, floating candles in masonry jars and different sized bottles with a mixture of white large chrysanthemums, white veronicas, white statice, jade pearls, white stock and baby’s breath. It was beautifully warm and tasteful. We loved it!!

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Kyle purchased his suit at Republik in Rosebank. It was a dark bottle green, three piece suit. He wore it with a light ivory colour tie (to match my dress) and tan brown shoe from Aldo.

My Captured Moments

Did I say our wedding was blessed...? We were so lucky to find out photographers. I had searched social media for a photographer and Bianca from Blanchei Photography contacted me. She offered to do our wedding photographs for free! so she could build her portfolio in bridal photography. All we can say is wow at the beautiful moments she captured! She was patient, professional and so creative. On top of this we were blessed to have one of my colleagues Donavan Leon that did a staged shoot for us on the day too!! His photographs were so beautiful and professional and I really felt blessed and grateful for the time, effort and love they put into our day! Amazing people!
