Magical Moments

From start to finish, we had the most incredible wedding day. We had a few hiccups leading up to the big day but absolutely everything ended up falling into place. My most cherished moment is saying 'I do' to the man of my dreams and I will always remember the dance with my dad.

The Honeymoon

Off to Cape Town! We'll be staying at the Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia. Great food, incredible wine and atmosphere here we come!

My Special Day

I had long looked forward to a dress made by Jolache Couture and after trying on a few dresses I decided to have one made: long lacey sleeves, boat neckline, open back and fit and flare skirt from the hip: loads of detail and an incredibly long train (impractical and heavy but beautiful!)
I struggled to find any decent bridal lingerie in SA but I found some beautiful delicate pieces in Russia when I went over to visit my mom.
Hair and makeup was soft but dramatic with a low romantic bun and smokey rose gold cat eye and nude lip. MUD Makeup Sandton came out to us and did the most amazing job for all of us!
Having a traditional white gown, I found some colourful block heels (perfect for wandering around on grass and gravel) at Aldo, just to tie in with the Mexican flair!
I didn't have much jewellery or accessories as my dress was full of detail but I found some beautiful rose gold and pearl earrings and a rose gold hair piece at Lovisa.

The Venue

We got married at Bahri Wedding Venue just outside of Parys.
There was a farmhouse at the venue and a bridal suite where 16 of us stayed over, the rest of the guests booked at various guesthouses in Parys, just 10km away.

Named after our Arabian horse stud and situated in the middle of the Vredefort Dome. A new venue born out of love for horses and weddings and especially our own wedding. ...

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I was the most unprepared bride ever!
I got a spray tan 3 days before my wedding and had my hair and nails done 2 days before the wedding! (Note to self: freshly dyed hairlines are not cute!)

Wedding Elements

I had started with a look that was trending heavily at the time: rose gold, glass and greenery, but after some input from my dad and a little Pinterest inspo, we ended up with a Vintage Mexican inspired Fiesta!
Our venue was very rustic with concrete floors, grey walls, thatch roofs and big wooden doors! It looked absolutely stunning with our colourful flowers and decor!
We had a last minute hiccup with our flowers as our florist who we had been coordinating with for 9 months, quoted us R10k extra just 10 days before the wedding (this was after 'cutting where she could') Luckily, Bianca from Eat A Lot came to our rescue, having done my sister in laws wedding, she agreed to help us at the last minute, doing the most beautiful job and all in our budget!
We had wooden cross back chairs and filament bulbs, floating candles and fairy lights that added incredible ambiance.
All of our decor was supplied by A&E Wedding & Function Decor in Potchefstroom, delivering and fetching at a reasonable price!
Our rose gold cutlery however we hired in Klerksdorp at Marinas Verhurings- the R2,5k saving was worth the trip!

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom and groomsmen all went straight to Euro Suit in Boksburg, we had hired there for my sister in laws wedding and it seemed like the obvious choice.
We hired navy suits for the groomsmen and bought a 3 piece navy suit for the groom- on special!
We had them wear theie own brown leather shoes and belts and bought brown leather bowties for the groomsmen and a brown leather tie for the groom from Aqwake Apparel in Potchefstroom.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I struggled with my bridesmaids dresses, I just couldn't decide what they should wear or what colour!
Eventually we all met at YDE and I ended up getting them each a different style dress in the same dusty blush pink colour.
A lot of the dresses were marked down or on special and with the extra money, we went to Lovisa and I bought them each a set of earrings and accessories that matched their style of dress.
All the girls ended up wearing their own pair of nude shoes but I absolutely have to mention the incredible comfort I've experienced from Zellies shoes!

Marriage Officer

We got married by our Parish Priest from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Potchefstroom, Fr. Don Bohe- he is also a marriage officer.

My Captured Moments

I cannot praise Nina from Nina Buys Photography enough! Her and her videographer partner Herno were absolutely incredible and their photos speak for themselves!
She was so professional and helped so much with extra tips and advice- I could not have asked for a better person to capture the most beautiful day!

The Wedding Planner

Absolutely no planner! I'm very much a DIY kind of girl- it was stressful at times but very rewarding to plan my own wedding!

Wedding Transport

We didn't need any transportation as we had the venue and the farmhouse for the entire weekend- the good old Fortuner did the trick!

Food & Cake

Crista Galli Catering from Potchefstroom was the obvious choice for us.
The venue recommended them and they have a great reputation in the area.
They are happy to work within a budget and are prompt and professional and created a bespoke menu that was special to us!
We had a taco stand for starters that we served with our Chai Spiced Mudcake and Oreo Mini Cheesecakes from Oh my Cake, buffet for mains and Churros and ice cream for dessert!

Wedding Stationery

Again, our stationary was very last minute!
We printed a lot of things ourselves but Mizan from Sign Master in Potchefstroom did an amazing job! Designing, printing and laser cutting everything in 2 days!

The Reception and Entertainment

We practiced a dance in our home town, choreographed by a local dance instructor who doesn't really do the kind of dance we wanted- she was wonderful and even though we never really had the time to practice on our own and ended up chopping quite a few moves, it was nice to have the confidence we had developed after a few lessons.
Our DJ was wonderful and very professional! Recommended by the venue, Oeschger from Rentertainment in Potchefstroom also happened to be the DJ who had played at our first official date after meeting!
