Magical Moments

The location of our venue definitely set the scene and the perfect atmosphere that we have always dreamed of. The flowers and decor were another highlight as it combined so well with the vibe of the venue. The food provided by the venue was amazing! We had the most precious preach from our lovely pastor, who is also family of the groom, which made it all the more special. Being blessed to have all of our close family and friends there was the greatest highlight of all. Being able to share this special day with everyone we love.

The Honeymoon

We went on honeymoon in the Philippines - it was a dream come true!

My Special Day

I wanted my make-up to look as natural as possible, as it was a semi-formal leaning towards casual beach wedding. I was barefoot for the ceremony and so heavy make-up would not have looked well with the rest of my look. My hair was in silver-blonde bohemian/viking braids. Both my hair and make-up were done by the incredibly sweetest lady, Lynette Loubser. I had a beautiful flowy dress with a slit on the left side showing off some leg. I wore barefoot sandals for the ceremony and beige/tan peep-toe ankle boots for the reception. My lingerie was from Woolworths and Zando, white and navy, and my getting-ready gown and garter were custom-made by All Things Bridal. Most of my jewelry were custom-made by Punk Pixie and Blossom Accessories.

The Venue

We got married at the lovely West Coast venue, Sea Trader, in Britannia Bay. The venue only has 4 units in which up to 4 people can sleep. The venue is so close to plenty of holiday homes to rent, self-catering units and bed & breakfasts that guests had no issues finding a place to stay for the evening - close enough to walk!

Nestled in the splendour of the West Coast you’ll find Cape St Martin Private Nature reserve, home of Sea Trader, the perfect venue for functions and beautiful weddings.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I tried running and going to the gym 4-5 days per week in the months leading up to the wedding (I started at least 6 months before the wedding). I did not follow a specific exercise program but I had my sister-in-law motivating me all the way. 2 month before the wedding I went for Fraxel Laser at Skin renewal (The Renewal Institute) in Paarl. I did at-home teeth whitening with a kit only available from dentists.

Wedding Elements

We had a beach bohemian wedding with a touch of elegance. We had beautiful shades of blue and white flowers in vintage silver pots and urns. We had silver candle stands with light blue and navy candles. I made name tags from mussel shells that I picked up at table view. I had each guests' name printed on clear vinyl, cut it out and pasted it on the shells. I hired blue goblet wine glasses from Something Borrowed and grey Rami Linen Napkins from Muse Wedding Decor. Beréna Malherbe from Flowers by B did our flowers and decor. We rented a triangular arch for the ceremony but ended up using it at the reception instead (Behind the bridal table with the most beautiful flower arrangements). Our DJ, Frank Immelman from Rainbow Sound, provided extra lighting for the dance floor.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom wore grey pants, a white shirt, grey tie and brown shoes all from Markham, and a waist-coat custom-made by Joystrings (who also made my wedding dress). The groomsmen wore navy pants from Mr. Price, their own white shirts and leather (artificial leather) suspenders from All Thing Bridal SA, and their own brown shoes.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I got the idea for my bridesmaids' outfits on Pinterest. They wore dusty blue/slate blue skirts from Ek Trou Bridal Boutique and white tops also made by Joystrings. They wore earrings from Lovisa and barefoot sandals custom-made by Punk Pixie.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was a family member of the groom, Pastor Jacques Venter from Upington.

My Captured Moments

Milya van Heerden from All About Photography was our photographer for the day. She has the most amazing energy and always made as comfortable in front of the camera. She and her assistant were able to catch all our special moments. Rudy van Tonder from Grootdors Produksies did our videos. They were incredible on the day, and the editing of the raw footage was out of this world! I am so happy with the results from both our photographers and our videographers. We also hired a photobooth (vintage light blue VW combi) from All About Photography that was operated by Milya's husband. It was a huge hit with all of the guests and even the venue employees!

Wedding Transport

The Wedding car was my dad's vintage navy Citroën DS20. An old classic.

Food & Cake

The venue's chef prepared all of the food, including the canapés for our wedding day. The food was amazing! Our cake was made as a wedding gift by my cousin, who only bakes as a hobby.

Wedding Stationery

I designed all of our wedding stationary, including our website. I had stickers print at Minuteman Press in Paarl, but did all the rest myself.

The Reception and Entertainment

We took 3 dance lessons in Germany to learn a newly choreographed dance. The dance was choreographed specially for us. DJ Frank Immelman from Rainbow Sound did the sound and music for the reception but we had a string trio, Cadillac String Trio, play the music for our ceremony.
