Magical Moments

So my day was not like that of a normal young bride. Because we are a bit older we decided that we will not be having bridesmaids and groomsmen and that everyone at the wedding will be there to celebrate with us not do the work.

We therefore ensured that all our suppliers had a time schedule and photo's of where everything needed to go. I had set up a table to ensure that the venue knew what I wanted the tables to look like and on the day everything went smoothly. It was a beautiful sunny day, no rain, no wind, just sunshine and happy thoughts

I stayed the night at Bushmans Rock in Kameeldrift Pretoria which was about 1km away from our venue. This is where I got dressed and ready to become a Mrs. The rooms are beautiful and it is such a calm environment that you cannot help but be relaxed. I had breakfast at the restaurant at Bushmans and then my day got going.

My hair was done at 10AM by my friend Clara who happens to be a hairdresser as well :) My makeup was also done by a private individual and she did a fabulous job. Steff from Ross Images was our photographer and I can honestly say that if it was not for her, I think allot of the details of the day would have been lost. She saw everything and captured every moment beautifully.

I arrived at the venue (Bosboma Bridal boma in Kameeldrift) early and caught everyone off guard by walking down the isle 10 minutes early. With Karen Zoid's rendition of Hallelujah in the background, my son walked me down the isle and I cannot describe the look on my husbands face as he saw me for the first time. It is an indescribable emotion that was so overpowering and beautiful at the same time.

Our reception area decorated with the most beautiful combination of King protea's, succulents, cape rush and penny gum was beautifully lit by more than 100 tealight candles as we danced the night away with friends and family. Our flowers were supplied by Tia's Flower Hyper in Montana and all candles were supplied by An -Mad

The food was supplied by the venue - Starters were served outside around a beautifully set bonfire and consisted of home baked bread and home made jams and pate. Several different cheeses and fresh squeezed juices.

Our main meal consisted of 3 types of meat (Lamb, chicken and Pork) roasted on an open fire. Side dishes consisted of 3 different types of salads (Greek, 3 bean and noodle salad) rice and pap as well as a lovely gravy. Followed by Melva pudding, ice cream and chocolate sauce (as well as wedding cake)

The wedding cake was backed by a friend (Alicia Olwagen - You can definitely consider her to bake your wedding cake as it was divine!)

We had an open bar with a few different beers, ciders and wine that we had bought at Makro. We made a point of asking everyone to give us an idea of what they like to drink when they RSVP'd so we had a basic idea of what to get. We had personalized bottles of still and sparking water (designed and supplied by Branded water).

All and all the day was really worth every bit of time spent planning and redoing and changing my mind and changing it again and going back to what I originally said and changing my mind again........

It was a day spent with the people who matter most in our lives and was truly unforgettable!

The Honeymoon

Krabi Thailand - What a majestic breathtaking place to be!!

Krabi, on southern Thailand’s west coast, is a province characterized by craggy, sheer limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests, and more than a hundred offshore islands. Some of its most popular beach destinations include the Phi Phi Islands, which jut from the sea like giant rain-forested boulders, and Railay Beach, accessible only by boat and a prominent rock-climbing spot.

Still, one of the main attractions of Krabi is that it still is relatively untouched. The province still manages to retain its natural charm.

We stayed at Beyond Resort - Luxurious 4-star resort set on sandy Klong Muang Beach in Krabi.
