Magical Moments

Our wedding day was picture perfect from waking up to a beautiful sunny day, after many days of rain, to the very end of the evening. We opted for a small, intimate wedding with only 28 guests, including ourselves and our wedding party. Walking down the isle in a fairy dress, escorted by my two sons and seeing my gorgeous Person waiting for me at the end, was a never forget moment. Our gorgeous daughters looked absolutely lovely in their navy dresses and curly hair. Our ceremony was short and personal, just the way we wanted it. We invited only close family and friends and have the most memorable large and smaller group photos, which we could share with everyone. Instead of separate tables for the function we had one large rectangular table, enabling us to interact with all our guests as a group. The food, the company, the venue, the decor......all perfect!

The Honeymoon

We took a short 2 night break from reality after the wedding at Whispering Pines Resort, just outside Magaliesburg. What a wonderful little piece of heaven we found there. The facilities were amazing, from a fireplace inside our very privately situated chalet to an outdoor shower. The honeymoon chalets are completely surrounded by lush forest. We were treated to a couples massage. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was everything a romantic honeymoon getaway should be. The venue, not allowing any children under eleven, is specifically geared towards couples, privacy and a magical atmosphere.

My Special Day

My wedding look was classic, elegant and stylish. My dress was from Bride&Co and love at first site. My hairstyle was long and loose with boho style curls, done by Sarlah van Zyl. My make-up had a very natural look and feel, done at the venue by Janine from Makeup by Janine. I bought the most beautiful gold shoes from Froggie, but on the day opted for my navy Mr Price Sport plakkies, it just felt more me. My lingerie was a mix from Woolworths and Bras n Things in Clearwater Mall. My gold drop earings, a Valentines 2018 gift from my then fiance acted as my something old and complimented my dress. I wore my mom's engagement ring as my something borrowed, as well as a representation of my dad, who passed away in 2000. My only other accessory was my bouquet, created by my mom, using eucalyptus, babies breath and white roses.

The Venue

Our ceremony was held in the beautiful and lush garden of EnGedi - The Oasis in the Cradle. Our reception was held in the venue's Bistro. Most of our guests were local and went home afterwards. The more safety conscious guests made use of the venue accommodation and a few stayed at our home, which is about 5 min drive from the venue.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I am blessed with a good figure and healthy skin. My skin routine remained as normal, using Dove soap in the mornings and a Garnier scrub in the evenings. I moisturise with a Nivea moisturiser for combination skin. I enjoyed an in-house foot and hand massage and treatment with gel overlays on the evening before the wedding. I am a naturally active person, horse riding 4 to 5 times a week is my normal exercise format. I stepped up the exercise routine from about 4 weeks before the wedding to include some crunches, squats and calf raises, as well as a few yoga poses.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My Maid of Honour wore a navy Eternity dress from Bride&Co. with shoes from Shoe City. Jewellery were owned and she paired it with two bangles from Tora Grace, that was given to her by myself as a gift. My eldest daughter wore a navy dress from Identity and my younger daughter wore a navy dress, based on the design of my eldest daughter's dress, made for her by my mother. Both girls wore earings from Lovisa and navy shoes from Shoe City. Hair for my Maid of Honour was done by Sarlah van Zyl and the girls hair were done by a close friend.

My Captured Moments

Our magical photos were captured by my close friend Tanneth Bern from Fine Photography. She did an outstanding job and we couldn't have asked for better. We did not use a videographer or photobooth. We opted for group photos of all our guests.

The Wedding Planner

As we opted for a small intimate wedding we did all the planning and organising ourselves, with the help of my Maid of Honour and my mother.

Wedding Transport

Our home is approx 5 minutes from our wedding venue. I stayed at the venue the night before, along with my Maid of Honour and we therefore did not need any wedding transport. My husband was collected by a friend.

Food & Cake

All our catering were handled by the venue EnGedi - The Oasis in the Cradle. We chose to forego a lot of the traditional wedding "items" such as a wedding cake and throwing of the bouquet.

Wedding Stationery

We like a personal touch and with our wedding being very small and intimate, we designed and printed our own stationery. Our electronic Save-the-Date was done with a photo taken by my brother.
