How did your love story begin?

Our love story is quite unique and out of a romance book! We met online through Facebook. Rudi recognised me from our hometown but he resides in London. At first I was hesitant to accept his request but it was the best decision ever! We started talking throughout the days. The first time he video called me and our eyes met, I was totally lost! Love at first sight really does exist! My heart raced and emotions surfaced! Totally in love! For a year we communicated day and night and he was able to fly to SA at last for us to meet in person. Rudi booked in at a Guesthouse and I went to meet him there. My heart throbbed and I was so excited and anxious! When I entered his room, he stood there and I could hardly believe that it is not a dream. I struggled to breathe and started crying. He hugged me and kissed me. He was even more handsome in “real life”.
After meeting my daughter and parents, we spent two weeks together and had the ultimate adventure! He treated me and also paid for my scuba diving course. He believed in me and made me believe in myself. Our first sea dive together was so special!
He uplifts me, supports and loves me – I am so lucky.

Tell us all about the proposal.

Back from our holiday in Sodwana, Rudi thought it to be respectful to ask my parents’ blessing even though we’re in our fourty’s. They were very excited and supportive.
Two days before Rudi had to leave SA for London, he proposed to me with a beautiful engagement ring! I was upstairs and didn’t notice him setting up his camera. When I turned and looked at him, he went down on his knee and showed me the ring! I didn’t expect it at that moment and was surprised in a good way! He started by saying: “My Liefie, nou dat ons “toestemming” het, sal jy met my trou?” Of course I said: “Natuurlik sal ek!”
Our wedding is on 7 December 2019 in South Africa and I am very excited!
