Magical Moments

Our wedding day was so magical and one I will never forget! With rain forecasted in Cape Town for days leading up to our wedding and after, the weather on the Saturday took us all by surprise as the clouds opened up and rays of sunshine cascaded through, which started the day on a high note. With my dress on, make-up and hair done, I really felt like a princess, ready to see my prince.

I was all smiles as my dad walked me down the aisle, a real dream come true, walking to my future husband, who was teary eyed as I made my way towards him. Saying our vows, witnessed by all our family, friends and loved ones in a church that I grew up in was real fairy-tail moment.

After we were married, we sped off in a roaring V8 midnight blue Cobra (my husband's car of choice) which was the most exhilarating car ride I had ever experienced! Driving around the mountain with ocean views, we were en route to our reception venue in Noordhoek. With my hubby by my side, the wind in my hair, the noise of the engine, I was the happiest girl in the world!

The venue far exceeded my expectations, and was completely transformed into a magical fairy lit garden! The food was exceptional, drinks were flowing and the music kept us dancing all night long, it was just perfect!

Having everyone there, from near and far, to share this day with us was such an overwhelming experience as they were there to celebrate us, and our union as husband and wife.

The Honeymoon

We chose the stunning Garden Route for our honeymoon, from George to Knynsa and Plettenberg Bay, our week road trip was everything we had imagined it to be!

Starting off with a night at Oubaai Hotel in George, we experienced the luxury of couple massages, room service and a buffet breakfast. From there we headed to Forest Valley Cottages in Knysna, a real gem of a place. With tranquil forests, a bath with views for days and indoor fireplace, our self catering cottage allowed us the downtime we needed and was absolute bliss. Afterwards we headed to Arch Rock Resort in Plettenberg Bay, with an ocean front suite and access to a private beach. Waking up with dolphins frolicking right in front of us was truly a sight to see. The final part of our honeymoon was a bucket list experience, where we both did the Bloukrans bungee jump, the highest bridge in Africa and indeed ended on a high ;-)

My Special Day

I am quite indecisive so I had no set idea in mind of my look for my wedding day. After weeks of browsing I finally decided on the stunning Lila by Blue by Enzoani, which I bought at The Wedding Boutique in Woodstock. My dress was a romantic classic with a modern twist which had layers of lace and soft tulle and a plunging, illusion strapless sweetheart neckline.

My hair was swept to the side with loose curls, finished off with a diamante comb. For my make-up I wanted a natural look and the artist from Smudge Academy did just that, with a subtle smokey eye and a nude lip.

On my feet were the cutest kitten heel blush pumps from Aldo, which were so comfy that I could dance in them the entire night. My jewelry was my 'something borrowed' and finished off my look with diamante earrings and bracelet.

The Venue

We said our vows at the beautiful Holy Redeemer Church in Bergvliet, after which we headed to our reception venue in Noordhoek. Sacred Mountain Lodge offers an intimate garden setting, with lush greenery all around and rooms available exclusively for our guests.

My Captured Moments

All our special moments were captured by the very talented duo from Eye-Like Photography. They are a truly an amazing couple and made us feel at ease throughout the day. Knowing that they were there with us to capture our wedding made us feel incredibly confident in always being able to look back and relive our day with a smile.
