The Honeymoon

Mauritius has always been our dream honeymoon destination. Not too far away to spend days travelling, but far enough to feel like we are somewhere special. We went to the Victoria Beachcomber Resort's newly built adult wing, "Victoria for 2". It was the most romantic and special getaway!

My Special Day

I tried on wedding dresses at quite a few different boutiqies, however I never had the feeling of "This is the one!!!". My thoughts kept on going back to my matric farewell dress, and how my whole family told me at that stage, that I would never be able to top my matric farewell dress with a wedding dress one day. Then it hit me that I should go back to the amazing designer who made my high school dress all that many years ago... I went to Biji Gibbs (at Biji Couture) and together we created the dress of my dreams!
I always knew that I wanted to have a pretty back when it comes to a wedding gown. When I tried on wedding dresses before going to Biji, I realised that lace didn't do it for me. We therefore went for a clean look with 3D flowers and petals, to replace the nice texture of lace.
I fell in love with a specific fabric called "organdy", which is what eventually gave my dress its beautiful flowing style.
To be able to see the beautiful back of my dress, I went for a "tied" look hairstyle. Because I never wear upstyles, I wanted to still keep my hair as natural as possible, without blocking the view of my dress.
I wanted to still look like myself on my wedding day and therefore went with a very natural make-up look, with a bit of an eye pop! My accessories were minimal, bringing in my "something old" with a pair of pearl earrings, which I wore to my last dress fitting by chance! It brought the look together tremendously. My shoes were very simple Country Road nude block heels, which I wear to work everyday now, because it is just that comfortable!

The Venue

We fell in love in the beautiful winelands student town, Stellenbosch. We therefore did not need to give it any second thoughts, Stellenbosch was the obvious choice to get married!
Our wedding venue was the beautiful wine and stud farm, Brenaissance. I wanted to get married in a chapel, and Brenaissance has the perfect glass chapel, overlooking the vineyards and Stellenbosch mountain. In very close proximity is the reception hall, which has a beautiful black and white check dance floor.
The venue included accommodation for 18 people, which was perfect for the bridal party for the night before the wedding, and the whole family on the wedding night.

Marriage Officer

My Captured Moments

Our photographer was Migneon Marais from Pritti Photography. She is so talented and passionate, she even cried more than myself during the ceremony!
Our videographer was White Motion Films.

The Wedding Planner

I did all the planning myself, but we did have an "on the day coordinator", which takes away so much stress and really helps you enjoy the day!
Our coordinator was Sitting Pretty Bespoke Events.
