The Honeymoon

We spent two weeks in Croatia! Marc and I love travelling and exploring different parts of the world. We wanted to go somewhere neither of us have been before, a place that had great food, good wine, and lots of beautiful sights to see, and Croatia definitely met all of our expectations! We started in Zagreb, then headed down to Plitvice Lakes, on to Split, across to Brac for the night, over to Hvar, and ended up in Dubrovnik. We loved visiting all of the historic fortresses and castles, climbing to the top of every view point, and soaking up all the culture that Croatia has to offer. We had such fun and loved every experience!

My Special Day

I was so lucky to have had the insanely talented designer Tayla Hollick from Hamilton Clothing, design and make my dress. She interpreted my concept perfectly and created this spectacular dress, that was both elegant and edgy. The fabric was a heavily beaded geometric lace, that worked perfectly with this style. Tayla is brilliant and an absolute dream to work with!!!
My make up and hair was done by the lovely Tia Botha from Nixon Makeup. She nailed it!

The Venue

We were married at our Church, The Olive Tree Church Florida Road, Durban. Marc had completed building the stage that we were married on a few days earlier, which was incredibly meaningful to us.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I have been training with Lilian Hamilton from Hamiltons Health and Fitness for the last two years. She completely transformed my body! Lilian has an easy to follow meal plan that is adjusted for brides to make sure you are looking your best on the big day! I trained with her three times a week leading up to our wedding day. Lilian kept me motivated and supported me when the wine or sugar cravings hit! She is an amazing personal trainer who works on the mind and body to make sure you are living the best life possible, and she gets the results you are looking for!
My lashes were done by Vani from Restored Beauty.

Marriage Officer

Our Minister and friend, Ross Rodger married us.

My Captured Moments

Because we wanted a very informal celebration, and didn't want our guests to wait while we went off on a photo shoot, not to mention the fact that Marc was dying to get to the reception to watch the rugby, we had a friend take photographs of our ceremony and guests celebrating. A few weeks after the wedding, we arranged a photo shoot with Wilma Towell where we were able to relax and take our time without the pressure of keeping everyone waiting. We dressed up in our wedding outfits and popped a bottle of champers and had such fun with Wilma who captured the love we have for each other perfectly.

Wedding Transport

We were that couple that Ubered home in the early hours of the next morning...hahahhahahhaha! It was awesome.

Food & Cake

Guests were able to mingle, help themselves to a gin at the timber gin bar that Marc especially made for our wedding and snack on a variety of harvest boards, made up of a wide variety of local charcuterie, artisanal bread, cheese, pates and many other delectable tasty treats that Marc and I sourced from local Durban suppliers. Later on Saar from Falafel Fundi entertained everyone as he made up mediterranean platters and falafels when we were ready to eat again.
My Mom is known for her beautiful and absolutely delicious wedding cakes, and we were so grateful to have her make our cake, making it extra special.

The Reception and Entertainment

"Come for the love, stay for the party!" And our wedding definitely depicted this. We chose The Aviator - Neighbourhood Eatery in La Lucia for our celebration because of the modern yet intimate vibe, that had an open plan space with a good flow between the inside and outside, and of course the friendly and efficient staff and managers. Our DJ played modern jazz on vinyl earlier on in the evening, and as the night became more festive, he played awesome music that kept everyone dancing including us well into the early hours of the next morning. Marc and I wanted our day to be very casual, relaxed and fun, and most importantly to celebrate the love we share and the commitment we made to each other. Our decor was simple, with a few gem coloured vases and candles scattered around with arrangements of flowers at different heights, creating a bit of a modern boho chic vibe.
