Magical Moments

Our wedding day was filled with God's abundant grace and love. His presence could be felt throughout our day - in the laughs of our family and friends, in the birds chirping in the forest, in the first moment I saw my husband standing at the end of the aisle.
We were extremely blessed to be able to get married at Die Woud, an enchanted forest just outside Caledon. We decided to make the most of our wedding and invited our bridal party and families to spend the weekend in Caledon. We were surrounded by the people we loved most since the Friday evening and ended our weekend with a breakfast on the Sunday morning. Being with the people who shaped our souls was the highlight of our wedding! The rest of our wedding night was filled with amazing food, heart-warming speeches, loud music and dancing.
But through the craziness of a house full of people and a whirlwind evening, God gave us an intense moment of silence on our wedding day. I have just walked down the aisle to the beat of my husband's tears and our priest has just welcomed all of our guests and started a prayer. The silence fell through the forest and a single ray of sunshine found it's way through the leaves. A bird started chirping and the rustling of the leaves created the melody line for nature's most soul-moving melody - silence. In that moment I sneaked a peak at my husband and the rest of our guests and knew; THIS was the most content and happy I have ever felt in my life.

The Honeymoon

We decided to explore our own country, as we rarely get the chance to do so. We planned a road trip through the Garden Route, starting in Knysna. We stayed in the most amazing guesthouse in Brenton-on-Sea and met incredible people along the way. We ate much more than we should've and spend every evening drinking champagne. From Knysna, we went to Plettenberg Bay and stayed in a guesthouse in the Keurboom's Nature Reserve. We were spoiled with our own little breakfast table every morning overlooking the Keurboom's Nature Reserve. Our last stop was Wilderness where we enjoyed some kayaking and massages. We were blown away by the natural beauty of the Garden Route and the friendly people we met. We were spoiled rotten by everyone and really had the chance to enjoy each other's company and rest after the ups and downs of wedding planning!

My Special Day

My wedding look can be described as romance meets glamour. I am a really simple girl who loves feminine colours and textures like lace. My wedding dress was made to compliment my figure and it was covered with romantic lace and a touch of glamour in the form of beads. My hair was a simple up-do to the side and my make-up was dramatic and highlighted my eyes. I only wore earrings that my husband bought me for my birthday.

The Venue

Die Woud

Die Woud

Die Woud is in perfect harmony with nature nestled between established oak trees and majestically tall wattle forests.

Wedding Elements

We wanted the venue and surroundings to shine and therefore kept our decor as simple as possible. We went for a color scheme of blush, marsala, rose gold and navy and our florist included an array of Proteas in all the arrangements.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husband wore a navy suit and marsala tie that he rented from Mr Suit Hire. The groomsmen all wore navy pants and marsala ties as well.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids each got their own dress in it's own design, but all still wore the same shade of navy.

My Captured Moments

We were extremely blessed to have Jana Marnewick as our photographer. The photos speak for themselves - moody with a lot of play on light and darkness.

Food & Cake

Our venue prepared the most amazing food for our day. It started with a craft beer stand and some cocktails, served with canape's and a roosterkoek station. For mains we had amazing steak, potato gratin stacks, spinach puree and a red wine jus. We had a dessert buffet were our guests could indulge in ice cream sandwiches, lemon meringue eclairs, passion fruit meringue cups and chocolate tarts. We also served our wedding cake with the dessert. Our wedding cake was a gift from one of our family friends and consisted of layers of red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. The food was a hit at our wedding!

The Reception and Entertainment

My sister helped us with our first dance, as she previously did ballroom. We danced on You are the Reason by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis and did a slow waltz. Our sound and lighting was done by DJ Phoenix and we enjoyed his mix of songs that old and young could enjoy.
