Magical Moments

My dream was a city themed fairy tale wedding. Ruald (my Husband) and I went for a visit to Turbine Hall, in the heart of Johannesburg with rich culture, history and the most beautiful architecture and high buildings. Our first visit to Turbine Hall was more than we ever expected.

The guests had a truly unforgettable city experience. Our romantic meeting was before the ceremony, which gave us special time together before the busy day started.

In the ceremony, guests was seated in the boiler house foyer and could look through the big windows into the city streets. With the traditional wedding march song playing I came down the glass elevator, walking the aisle was butterflies all the way and the most incredible moment of my life. Exchanging our vows and first kiss as Mr and Mrs Strydom was warm smiles.

We danced down the aisle together to the back as guest threw the handmade butterfly confetti on us. Cutting our wedding cake was laughter and a taste to remember.

We went to take photos on the Nelson Mandela Bridge, my husband arranged with the local city metro police to close it for one hour. It was breathtaking moments captured on the cable-stayed bridge and seeing the beautiful sunset in the heart of Johannesburg.

The reception took place two floors down at Turbine Hall Basement. With a room full of candles, we entered the ceremony with our first dance, our band played “gone gone gone” by Phillip Phillips. My Cinderella dress captured the wind and I floated on my husband’s arms with family and friends cheering.

It was truly a fairy tale in the city!

The Honeymoon

We flew down to Cape Town, got a rental car and travelled the Western Cape. We enjoyed amazing food, winelands and small towns. It was romantic, stylish and beautiful.

My Special Day

My wedding look was inspired by my favourite fairy tale stories.
I wanted a ball gown princess dress, timeless and classic, cinderella shoes and tiara.
I wanted long waves to go with my dress.

Being a make-up artist myself and working in the Industry for over 12 Years. I wanted to do my own wedding make-up for the day.

The Venue

We got married at Turbine Hall, the historic venue that once operated as a power station back in the 1920’s. Our guests had the option to stay at the Maslow Hotel, Time Square.
