Magical Moments

A highlight for both me and my husband, Barend was getting ready with our wedding party which consisted of family and friends who became family. They made our day so special and enjoyed each moment with us from going to the venue early in the morning to dancing the night away.

The last few minutes before heading to the ceremony was crazy as everyone was running around spraying perfume, getting tissues and fixing dresses. One of my Bridesmaids caled everyone in the room and asked if she could pray for us. Everyone stood in a circle holding hands, and she prayed that God calmed our nerves and blesses our marriage. This was so beautiful as it just immediately calmed everyone, especially me who was a little anxious by then- and then I knew I was ready to go say "I Do".

The most memorable moment for me was when I walked down the aisle and saw how emotional my new husband and high school sweetheart was. This was such a special moment as I did not expect this reaction from him as he is not usually an emotional person.

Another great moment was when we walked into the reception hall and our MC announced us as Mr & Mrs. This was so exciting for us as the reality of the commitment we made started to sink in and we could not wait to celebrate this with our friends and family.

The Honeymoon

We went on Honeymoon to Cape Town as it has a special place in our hearts as we got engaged on Table Mountain. We stayed in Kalkbay the first few days and enjoyed our days walking on the beach and eating at restaurants on the pier. For the second part of the honeymoon we stayed on Boulders Beach where the Penguin Colony is, which was just remarkable. We also went to do some sightseeing around the area.

My Special Day

My Wedding dress was designed and made by Immagika Creative Designs. I fell in love with this Bohemian Crystal dress when I saw it the first time at the Wedding Expo. From the first moment I saw it I knew that this was going to be my dress. It was vintage mixed with a bohemian flair which was exactly what I was going for. My Wedding shoes and garter matched my dress and was made from lace.

My hair and makeup was done by Angelic Allure. I went for a smokey eye look and my hair was a half updo with a braid. They did such an amazing job with our hair and makeup I could not have been happier. I also had a flower crown from Ginger Blossoms which were rose gold and blue.

Titanium Studio designed and custom made my two wedding bands to fit my stunning Pink Tourmaline and Diamond Engagement ring. I also wore a silver bracelet from Ivy Bridal House.

The Venue

We celebrated our beautiful day at Lavandou Wedding and Events Venue. We had our ceremony in their Forest Chapel where our 80 guests sat under big trees in front of the stone altar. Then we went to dance the night away in the Reception Hall with its beautiful wooden tables and crystal chandeliers. Lavandou has a French Provincial Ambiance with big shadowy trees and lavender pathways that contributes to the tranquility of the venue. The staff was so friendly and always willing to assist with everything.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I started my beauty regime around 6 months before the wedding. I tried to eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Luckily I have a wonderful Friend and Beauty Therapist, Teniela from Skin and Body Aesthetics who ensured that my skin looked flawless on my wedding day. I went for a series of chemical peels which she recommened and I also used Lamelle products. I also started using "Quick Grow" Shampoo and Conditioner which was amazing and helped my hair to grow beautifully a few months before the wedding.
I also had my nails done before the wedding at Chanel from Salon Pari who is the best nail tech ever.

Wedding Elements

Sanja from Lavandou created beautiful flower arrangements that contributed to the ambience of our beautiful day with stunning proteas and greenery. All our decor was supplied by Lavandou and we went for a romantic rose gold and duck egg blue look. The tables were perfectly arranged by Lavandou and we could not have been happier.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The Groom wore a taylor made tan suit and a dusty blue shirt. his groomsmen also wore dusty blue shirts and tan coloured pants. The grooms wedding ring was designed and made by Titanium studio who we received such an excellent service from that I decided to also request them to make my two custom wedding bands.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My beautiful bridesmaids were dressed in custom made rose gold and blush pink dresses by Ivy Bridal House. With every dress fitting they had we were just amazed by the talent and they looked stunning on the day with their rose gold accessories. They wore rose gold bracelets from Ivy Bridal House which matched their dresses perfectly. Their makeup and hair was also perfectly done by Angelic Allure and they wore rose gold and blue flower crowns from Ginger blossoms. I found inspiration for their look on Pinterest.

Marriage Officer

Our Marriage was officiated by Reverend Frikkie Du Plooi from NG Florauna.

My Captured Moments

Our day was perfectly captured by Trich Maritz Photography. We came a long way with Trich as she was the photographer at my 21st Birthday when she just started doing photography. It was so special to have her capture our day as she has an amazing talent, and her bubbly personality ensured that me and my new husband were so comfortable and able to enjoy each moment of our Mr & Mrs Shoot.
Our guests were able to enjoy the afternoon at our Photo Booth from Selfie Pro. These guys did an amazing job and each of our guests were able to take a photo home, and we received a Photo Book which doubled as our guest book where guests wrote messages next to their photos. The Photo Book's design was awesome with our Monogram in front also designed by Selfie Pro.

The Wedding Planner

I planned the wedding myself with the help of a great little wedding planner I bought from CNA which ensured that I covered everything with timelines and spaces to do budgets and put in all the important information. I also made use of Pinterest for inspiration for many years before we got married. My fiance also assisted me as he ensured that I kept to our budget and that everything was paid on time :-).

Wedding Transport

We did not require wedding transport as the ceremony and reception took place at Lavandou.

Food & Cake

We received a three course meal from Lavandou Wedding and Events Venue. The food was delicious and everyone loved the dessert.

I was very proud that my grandmother was able to make our wedding cake. She recently received a Presedential award and has been baking wedding cakes for many years, however it became very strenuous on her and subsequently our wedding cake was the last one she made. It was a three tier "pink velvet" cake and she custom made the cake topper to look like me and my husband which is something we will cherish forever.

Wedding Stationery

Lazer Classic designed and printed our stationary. They provided such a professiuonal service and we were extremely happy with our stationery including a beautiful welcome board and wooden keyrings for the guests. We also made use of Best Day Ever and were also very happy with their services.

The Reception and Entertainment

We used Lavandou's inhouse DJ Marcelle who ensured that our guests could dance the night away. We also took dance lessons from Lezelle at MJDC for our wedding dance and we learned a few moves for social dance. this was such an awesome experience as she made us feel so comfortable.

Our MC also provided our guests with entertainment as he showed a slide show op photos of me and my husband throughout the years which was very special.
