Magical Moments

I loved that we took our photos prior to our ceremony. I was so jittery, and being able to see my then still fiance alone before the crowd helped me to relax and just take it all in. My favourite moment, however, was when we had our first dance as married couple, everyone cheered and even though it wasn't "perfect" (I tripped over my dress) it was so much fun and I realized that nothing needs to be perfect to be right.

The Honeymoon

we left for the Drakensberg the Monday after our wedding. We stayed in a cozy cottage just outside Berghouse from which we had a breathtaking view of the Amphitheatre. As it was winter we could cuddle up in front of the fireplace and drink hot chocolate and just be lazy. It was a completely amazing experience for us as it was our first getaway on our own (without family/friends). I would recommend Berghouse and Cottages to any couple who wish for a lovely romantic getaway on a budget.

My Special Day

My dress had a "fairytale" feel and was quite detailed so I decided to do understated hair, make-up and accessories. I am also not really someone who likes to accessorize so it was what I was comfortable with. I wore teardrop Swarovski earrings and a bejeweled hairpiece from Lovisa that ran along the braid in my hair. My wedding dress (from The Bridal House Gift Acres) was a mixture of blush and caramel and white in many many layers! The long veil I wore was a very pale blush. My bodice was covered in soft white lace that flowed over onto the skirt. I wore matching nude high heels to complete my look.

The Venue

We began our forever at the Bushveld Pond Wedding Venue just outside Pretoria. The gardens are beautiful, the food was to die for and the staff friendly and hardworking- they took great care to make our day amazing. The best part of it was that the owners of the venue did our flowers, food and cake so we did not need to worry about having to organize a great number of vendors!!

My Captured Moments

Our photographer was Maricka Basson from Rose Hill Photography (maricka@rosehillphotography.co.za) and she did an amazing job. Both my husband and I were comfortable and felt relaxed in front of her camera and our wedding photos are gorgeous! She caught the funny and the nostalgic and her prices are very competitve. We are still waiting for our video but our videographer was Ilse and her husband from videocat (videocat@telkomsa.net), and they seemed to be everywhere at once to capture all our special moments!

The Reception and Entertainment

We took many dance lessons, at first lessons with my family so that my parents and brother could dance with us (my dad had never danced before in his life and I insisted on a father-daughter dance). Then my husband and I took private lessons to surprise everyone with a 'spectacular' dance (as my husband called it). We took all our lessons with Latin Look dance studio (Sonja 083 230 1566). I would recommend everyone take dance lessons beforehand, it just adds to the experience and the build-up to the wedding- not to mention being 'prepared' and less stressed on your wedding day.
