Where does a normal down to earth girl even start telling the world of her experience of their amazingly beautiful, magical, incredible, once in a life time, emotional, loved, special wedding day........WOW is a BIG UNDERSTATEMENT on how I feel about the biggest day of our life. THINKING OF OUR WEDDING DAY MAKES ME ALL TEARED UP. I TRULY WISH I CAN REWIND, TAKE BACK TIME, AND DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN!
My day started in the SPECTACULAR bridal suite of our wedding venue Bordeaux Game farm, with my two beautiful bridesmaids, mommy, mom in law and a bottle of champagne to keep the excitement flowing, and the nerves on a low down. While everyone was getting ready, looking beautiful as time ticked, I took a moment to just gather my thoughts and write a note to my future husband. As I sat down outside, five giraffes approached the suite, drinking water. This was truly amazing....how lucky was I ?!
All dressed and ready to marry the man of my dreams. Before I walked through the door of the ceremony(which is a random door in the middle of the bushveld) I wrote something to say over the mic for the love of my life, Theuns. This was really one of the best moments, as I accidently made all the guests, including Theuns, cry without me even knowing it.
Die Here sê in Romans 12:10 "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." en so sal ek jou altyd eer en bo enige iemand stel. Ek is so opgewonde vir ons lewe saam. Ek is so lief vir jou. Sien jou nou." I only realised everyone cried when I walked through that doors. My heart was raising a 1000 times quicker than I could handle, sjoe! My two older brothers walked me halfway through and gave me over to my dad. That moment when my dad started walking me down the isle was soooooo emotional as I approached Theuns...in my wildest dreams I never thought I'd see the sight of Theuns crying so intensely when he saw me walking down the isle, now that was beautiful(oh gosh and was he beautiful, and the most handsome man too), that we both basically cried throughout the ceremony. This was for sure the best moment and feeling EVER, and us crying the most happy tears I never thought was possible made it even more a memorable moment!
We really worked hard to make our day special. Our guest, venue, décor, flowers, food, speeches and overall everything was just how we wanted it to be! We danced the night away with our closest family and friends(and our doggy), and we could not have thank God more than just saying thank you for giving us the most beautiful wedding and the chance to love and cherish each other forever!
We both can say that if its a cliché or not, that our wedding day was the BEST and MOST special day that we could've ever imagined !
Other highlights : The Gin bar & lawn games!
Last thing, we included all the family kids, and really, they made our day extra special!
"Thinking of you keeps me awake. Dreaming of you keeps me asleep. Being with you keeps me alive"
We did not go on honeymoon. The plan is to go later this year. We want to save up enough money to make our honeymoon extra fun and special :) We at least had an extra night in the bridal suite to just spend some quality time together, enjoying the bushveld view and fresh air before heading of home.
Our wedding look was Bohemian with a little bit of a classy touch! We went for warm and cosy colours to make it look oh so more romantic!

THE BEST BUSHVELD VENUE!
Some guests stayed at the venue in the two Bordeaux Camps, and the rest of the guests outside the venue.
No drastic changes... I was just eating healthy, treating my skin with collagen masks and moisture masks. I tried to not wear a lot of make up before the wedding, as I really wanted to rejuvenate my skin and give it some air to breath. My friend Tanya did my mani and pedi. I was more of a bridechilla than a bridezilla to be honest, so I didn't go to spa treatments at all (AND there really wasn't any time for that).
We hired the décor at Anel from You & Me décor (She is such a breath of fresh air). All the items were mixed with modern and vintage elements. Blues, yellows, gold, greens, burgundy, with a touch of black.
Bordeaux has these beautiful raw wood tables and chairs that worked perfectly with our theme! All the outside furniture at the canapés was supplied by Bordeaux.
My bridesmaids and I made the table runners out of old vintage books. This element was my favourite for sure! The main table runner was a macramé runner made by Yvette from Artesense (Oh she is talented indeed!) as well as the macramé backdrop at our gift table. We rented peacock chairs for the main table at Riché from Nouvelle.
My bridesmaids and two cousins helped me with the heart strings that was in the tree at the ceremony. My sister in law and I made all the dreamcatchers for the canapés and reception. - So DIY was definitely a big factor in our wedding planning.
My husband made the arch at the ceremony(OMW this was also one of my favourite elements. I know, I know well everything was my favourite okay, how can you not like that arch!!!) as well as the table placing wine wall. Every guest got a bottle of wine from Blaauklippen Wine Estate with their names on it, under the table number they were placed. AND Druummmrooollll please - He also made our AMAZING cake swing!! He is sooo handy!
Okay, stop and take a moment to appreciate our flowers!! WOW, Juané from A seed to Sow made my dream flowers come true. We picked all the pompas grass ourselves(those things that look like huge feathers, haha) in our area... my main focus was to bring these into our flowers. They make such a statement! I cant even begin to name all the flowers and plants she used... but my request was burgundy/purple amaranthus, orchids and "varkore". AND SHE USED THEM SOOO WELL.
My bridesmaid Nicole and I bought these dresses at a shop unknown, hehehe. And I bought soft tulle net and floral print material for my mom to modify the dresses according to my liking. Thanks mom!
