My Special Day

I wanted quite an understated, "not so perfectly perfect" look on my wedding day. My dress was a little over the top (covered completely in tiny white sequins) so the rest of the look had to be a little understated otherwise I would have looked like a Kardashian Drag Queen.

MUA: Clarita Smit
I decided to go for BIG eyes and very natural makeup. My dress had a beige lining so I wanted the bronzes and browns to really compliment that. I also liked the idea of my hair blowing in the breeze and not looking stiff and unnatural. So a simple bun, soft flowy middle parted fridge and minimal hairspray did the trick!

EARRINGS: Lovisa
Cheap and simple - I loved these diamond look drop earrings and the way they moved beside my neck! Simple and easy.

The Venue

My husband and I got married at a beautiful little property nestled between the Rawsonville winelands called Picardi Place. The previous year we had done a one day pasta course at the same venue and fell in love with everything it has to offer. Jaco, the owner, has established a gorgeous little permaculture garden from which he feeds himself and runs these amazing pasta courses for guests! We said our vows in a private ceremony right inside of the permaculture garden beside the chickens, mice, bugs and birds and then took photos around the property. Our reception was held inside an old shed which used to serve as a coffee shop and refurbished furniture outlet so there are old doors, chairs and tables lying around which were left when the shop relocated. Our guests (all 4 of them!) stayed on the property in the little cottages attached to the main house. My husband and I stayed in a separate cabin, built especially for honeymooners and newlyweds which was an amazing little treat! The next day we all shared breakfast and spent the day doing a wine tasting organised by Jaco along with the pasta course (we had to do it again!) which was a great way to reminisce about out wedding the day before and spend some quality time with family.

My Captured Moments

An incredibly talented woman called Moira West captured our day. This woman finds light where only God knows it exists and creates works of art in seconds. I was seriously astounded at her work!
