Magical Moments

Getting ready in the morning was so special, we were all so clam & I just loved getting ready with the girls and my mum. A little highlight was that my first dress that I wore didn't fit me when I put it on so we had to stop mid way to the venue and Jillian the dress maker had to come and cut the under piece of the under skirt and then stick it to me because somehow I had lost a few kg's in the last 2 days! Thank goodness I was super calm and just let Jillian do her magic!

A little memory was during the ceremony Warren & I starred into each others eyes and had a little tear together whilst the pastor was speaking, for me it was the fact that it was actually happening and it felt so surreal.

Our first dance was extremely memorable, we both love a good dance & it was just such fun and very special. I had changed into my second dress so walking onto the dance floor hearing everyone ooh and aah was something I will always remember.

The Honeymoon

We definitely did and it was so blissful! We flew to Cape Town for 5 nights and explored many wine farms. We stayed in 2 beautiful places, the first was Bosjes & then Majekah House which was so beautiful. We then went to Mauritius for a week of sun & cocktails. Enjoyed lying by the pool and sundowners on the beach, was just so relaxing & the best end to a very special time away together!

My Special Day

The word that comes to mind is chic but elegant. I wanted something different, something simple that wouldn't date.

My dresses were made by the talented Jillian Cockcraft who got my vision from the beginning and made me feel so comfortable. My first dress was very classic with the boned bodice look which entailed very detailed lace & 3 layers of different tulle & textured fabric to enhance the layering. The train was 5 meters long with a very elegant finish on the hem. My second dress was "eat your heart out vogue" it was a fun but still very chic dress.

My make up was all about the eyes & dewy skin and for my hair it was extremely simple, straight and down. I definitely wasn't the most traditional look but I still wanted it to remain very elegant.

I wore a pair of earrings that I had bought in London in December & my rings were all sentimental rings that I wanted to keep on with the look I was going for.

The Venue

We got married in Durban Point, the venue was called Haystore. It's in the middle Durban, very industrial & so quaint.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I tried to train as much I could, I ran a bit but I am quite a healthy person so there wasn't any massive lifestyle change but more just making sure I was keeping healthy and taking vitamins and keeping my immune up.

I did do many peels on my skin to ensure it was the best it could be for the big day, I am a freak when I comes to skincare and I can be very dramatic so I probably spent too much money but it was worth every cent!

Wedding Elements

The ceremony was simple, under a marquee with ghost chairs and greenery all the way down on the side to make it feel inclosed. The black and rose gold grid flower display was a vision I had that came to life by the very talented Jenny Miller. An arch of roses to be the center piece for the back drop of the ceremony.

I wanted the reception to be elegant glamour, I mirrored the tables. We did no flowers on the table only masses of candles in glass vases which were in all different sizes. Instead of doing small tables we did 3 long tables and 1 long main table in front. We kept it very intimate with the candles and the lighting made a magical ambiance! The lighting was a big part of the reception which Warren and I made ourselves. We had filament light bulbs hanging from the ceiling above all four tables.

We had Ralph Lauren scented candles going hours before the wedding so as people walked through it gave a very slight scent to welcome people in.

The flower wall was the signature piece inside and it had over 1000 roses. It made the reception look exceptionally sensational. Jenny Miller understood my vision and dream and made it feel like we were in a real life fairytale with the wall display of flowers that was behind the main table. We also had lighting from the floor up to enhance the flower grid, it was a dream come true!

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groomsmen wore Tuxedo's with black bow ties.

Warren wore a Kale & Co bespoke suit.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The girls wore black slick jumpsuits made by Jillian Cockcraft. Each girl had a different top look which suited them each to there own body types. They looked so elegant and glam!

Marriage Officer

A very good family friend from Australia, Paul Tothil.

My Captured Moments

Ahhh, Vanilla Photography was our photographer.Bron Veale, She is actually my families neighbor so she is very dear to us! She captured the day better then we could have asked her to, she captured it with pure magic. She knew we wanted the documentary look and she went over and beyond to make sure it was something different and stylish because Warren and I didn't want the usual bridal look.

Michelle Rabe was our very talented videographer who blew us away with her work! She completely nailed the look and we watch our video almost every week just to relive in the moment.

The Wedding Planner

Faye from Poetry Weddings helped us for the last 2 months and oh my word she was a dream come true!

She made me feel so comfortable and I trusted her with everything. She made our big day an absolute breeze!

Food & Cake

Rays Kitchen from Ballito was our caterer, they are the best! Fresh gourmet delicious food. We did a harvest style on each table and made it family style so everyone could have a little something of everything!

Bron Celine made my beautiful cake! It was mojito flavored with the most unique design.

Wedding Stationery

My best friend Kirsten Wienand helped me with my stationary and then Warrens best friend Shaun Oakley helped with some of the designing.

The Reception and Entertainment

During canapes we had a live jazz band, Zama & Bones.

Our DJ was DJ Vivian from Top Jocks. All I can say is that eventually my dad had to ask us to get off the dance floor because it was SUCH a party!
