We didn’t stop laughing and smiling the whole day, the highlight was having our wedding at such a beautiful, relaxed venue and sharing such a special day with close friends and family. A very special moment was when my mom and I walked in to the venue that had been setup prior to the wedding and both had tears of absolute joy! The venue looked breathtaking thanks to County Flair and their incredible work. The day was full of wonderful emotion all of which will remain a highlight!
My hubby surprised me with a trip to Zanzibar! My first time to ever see turqoise water, it was AMAZING to say the least!
We went for a more vintage style wedding look, with the bridesmaids in soft pastels. I wore my hair up with soft flowy curls, it was a farm wedding so we tried not to add much sparkle and instead used pearl clips in the hair, pearl drop earrings and a pearl bracelet, this went well with the vintage theme we were trying to achieve:) We went for a more natural makeup look, with soft shimmers on the eyes and a light pink lip with blush pink cheeks. My shoes were Anella shoes, we went with a satin ivory as this worked best with the dress and suited the theme, I later changed into my comfy nude Zellies to dance the night away. My Lingerie was lacy and soft blue to add to the “something blue” tradition.
We got married at the most beautiful country venue, Florence Guest Farm on Chrissiesmeer, Mpumalanga. We chose to get married in February as the venue is so green during this time, adding an extra special view for us and our guests. Our guests joined us on the Friday and Saturday night, we had a spit braai on the Friday which was so well organized by the venue. The food and ambience the whole weekend was incredible, the venue went out of there way and it was certainly a very relaxed and very special weekend. The minute you drive into the gate at Florence Guest Farm, one immediately relaxes.
I have always looked after my skin and my health. I drank lots of water, ate as much fruit and veggies as possible leading up to the day. I am a skincare therapist, so I gave myself a good facial and light chemical peel every two weeks leading up to the special day:) we kept it nice and simple, I did my own nails for the wedding and had a team to do our hair and makeup:)
We used bunnies as part of our decor as my husband and I have two gorgeous bunnies who are a part of our little family, they bring the two of us so much joy and the love they share for one another is the kind of love my husband and I will always have for one another, it is unconditional and beautiful. Our flowers were out of this world thanks to Country Flair, Lucretia went above and beyond, she made sure to make our flowers unique to us, the colors were magnificent, all the beautiful pastel colors were bought in with lots of greenery, the flowers were so fresh, they were bright and colorful and we certainly had an abundance of them. We not use any draping as the venue is so lovely without it, we loved the sandstone and using the sandstone of the venue as our backdrop.
The groom and groomsmen wore grey suit pants from Vince in Roodepoort, they chose the suits and had them tailored to fit properly. They had tuxedo undies under their wedding attire and bright colored socks. They wore mint green shirts without a tie and brown belts and shoes. My husband wore a grey suit jacket to set himself apart from his groomsmen who just had the shirts. They all looked very handsome!
My bridesmaids each wore a different color pastel dress with an open ruffled v back and a satin ribbon in the waist from Bride & Co. The dresses were pretty and flowy and suited our vintage pastel theme perfectly. Each bridesmaid wore nude Zellie shoes to ensure they were comfortable all the way through. They each had a bunch of hydrangeas to bring out the colors of our wedding. Their hair was half up with loose curls to add to the vintage look.
Ed Ramsammy was our Pastor and marriage officer, he was wonderful, we had a few sessions of pre-marital counseling with him which we thoroughly enjoyed, he prepared us to take our next step into married life and helped us understand the challenges we may face. He made the service fun and added in the odd joke here and there:) A wonderful man, we were blessed to have him and his wife join in our special day.
We used Sonshaw Photo and video to capture our special day, they did an amazing job and were there until the very end of all the formalities. Shaun and Sonja, the photographers made the day extra fun and gave us wonderful photos and a video to cherish for the rest of our lives.
We did not have a specific wedding planner, my mom and I enjoyed planning a lot of the day together, and together with Country Flair and Florence Guest Farm and their superb organization, there was absolutely no need for a designated wedding planner:)
We used my Dad’s Discovery sport as this was his pride and joy at the time, we put a mint green ribbon on the bonnet to bring in our wedding color. It was comfy and perfect for a Farm venue!:) My brother was the chauffeur, he drove my Dad and I to the chapel and then drove my husband and I back up to canapés to cut our wedding cake:)
Florence Guest Farm prepared all the food for our wedding, we even had a spit braai on the Friday evening which they catered for around bonfire. The food was amazing and we left there very well fed.
Our cake was a caramel velvet cake made by Mystical cakes in Ermelo, it was delicious!:) we also had an extra cheese cake, chocolate cake and carrot cake from Chateaux Gateaux which went down very well.
Our cake toppers were made by the lady we adopted our bunny from which made it extra special, they are made of clay so we got to keep them as a special memento from the day:)
We designed and printed our own to give it more of a personal touch. The name tags were printed by Country Flair as well as our floor sticker with the bunnies:)
We danced until the very end! The night was full of laughter and joy! My husband and I decided not to go for dance lessons as we wanted the wedding to be more relaxed and not too structured, we decided it would be more natural to dance the way we knew how to and it turned out better than we ever expected. Our first dance was to “Better Place” by Rachel Platten, a song my husband sent to me one day to say it’s a better place for him since I came along and it became our song ever since. We made use of Raymond as our DJ, he is the optional in house DJ at Florence Guest Farm and he did an incredible job. We had an optional in house pianist who also played beautiful music during our canapés. We did not have any special lighting as the venue didn’t need it with all its natural beauty and sandstone backdrop.
