The moment I heard our ceremony instrumental playing, as I walk down the stairs, I was struggling to hold back my tears. As I walked through the doors of the venue, on to the garden and I saw my husband to be, the tears just started flowing. And then I saw him crying aswell. That moment I walked to him, and he hooked my arm in, I was trembling. Absolutely overwhelmed with happiness, we were blessed with this beautiful day, finally marrying my soulmate.
The day after, was my 30th Birthday! We had breakfast with some of the guests and shortly after left for a roadtrip honeymoon down Route 62. The most beautiful place we stayed over was definitely Botlierskop in Mosselbay.
I wanted a timeless and elegant look with a natural glow. Beautify by Lindsey got that absolutely right! Along with soft curls in a half updo hairstyle, I looked amazing. I was blessed with the most beautiful wedding dress by Silvano Cicatello. I designed my own dress, but he brought it to life. We chose a corded lace with a slight shimmer in it with soft chiffon off shoulder sleeves. I love simplicity, so I went with a beautiful pair of pearl drop earrings and borrowed a pearl bracelet from my new mother. My bridal lingerie was all white from wonderbra with a matching lace trimmed gown. The most important piece of jewellery was my beautiful white gold wedding band with diamonds along with my emerald engagement ring.
We got married at Merwida Country Lodge in Rawsonville. Our guests also spend the night in the lodge and joined us for breakfast in the morning.

I work as a dance instructor, so my daily work routine kept me fit. I went for a dental check up but opted for a diy teeth whitening with a Ap24 toothpaste, worked wonders. I went to my regular salon for french ombre nails. Went to Sorbet Glengarry to get my brows shaped and my good friend Larah Welgemoed did my eyelash extensions. Futhermore I drank a lot of water and followed my regular skin regime.
When I walked into Merwida Country Lodge, I fell inlove with the old world feel, dramatic gold accented staircase, crystal chandelier and complete white dining room. I knew it didn't need much. Dianne from Plush events and planning did an excellent job. I wanted simplicity, just a dash of colour with pastel colour flowers and greenery with candles. I ordered a monogram 'LJ' from Little woodpeckers in Burgundy estate. It looked stuunnning at our bridal table. We rented Crystal candle holders, underplates and vases from Function Hire4U in Kuilsrivier. The venue had beautiful white tiffany chairs, and plenty of additional furniture for guests during pre drinks. Our sound and lighting was gifted from my boss, Jacques Carstens from Jacques Carstens Dance Studio.
Stunning royal blue suits for the groom, groomsmen and my son was hired at Suits for hire. The gents all had tan dress shoes and white shirts. Groom had a pop of colour with a red tie and pocketsquare. Accessorized with David Tlale cufflinks and Notorius B.I.G socks. Lastly a bottle of Johnny Walker Green Label ( to match our surname)
Like most brides I was a pinterest addict. I love the different shades of pastel and different styles of dresses. With my girls I realized they all have their own style, so I entrusted them to pick their own dresses as long as its a shade of pastel and I give final approval before they purchase. It worked! They all went to different shops and ended up looking gorgeous.
We are both from the same church, so our local pastor officiated our wedding, Ds. Marius v.Schalkwyk.
We had the most adorable photographer, Adele de Bryun. Her authentic style captured our day beautifully. She has a incredibly good eye and got us the most timeless, elegant and beautiful moments captured. While we doing our couple shoot our guests had fun in our photo booth from The Party technician. We ourselves jumped in with our photographer and make-up artist. It was loads of fun and made a great thank you gift for guests, with a unlimited amount of pics they could take home with them.
Merwida Country Lodge has their own venue & wedding coordinator, Tannie Hester was amazing and kept everything on schedule. I am so grateful for everything she did.
We were fortunate to have everything at one place so we didn't need any transport except our own car for our honeymoon roadtrip.
Our food was also provided by our venue. It was absolutely delicious. Our friends and family still rave about the food. Our wedding cake was also gifted by our Chantelle. A beautiful white 2-tier layer cake.
We actually printed our stationery at Lorenzo's office, and I did the layout myself.
I am a dance instructor but I didn't want to put to much pressure on my husband so we did a little intro and just improvised to everlasting love by Natalie Cole. Lots of lifts and dips to make up for lack of footwork. Our music was provided by my boss Jacques Carstens, he did such an amazing job.
