The highlight moment of the day for me was the moment I locked eyes with Leon when I walked down the aisle.
This was the moment I will always remember. Every hour was full of fun, laughter and happy tears.
After we signed the register, we walked out on the song “So Happy Together” by The Turtles, I could feel the stress levels drop and the fun begin !
We arrived at reception after our amazing photoshoot. We entered on the song “Bonfire Heart” by James Blunt where there was a big bonfire lit as we entered. This was a very special moment.
It was a day full of emosion and I am blessed to have had all my friends and family enjoy this special day with us.
Yes, we went on a short Honeymoon. We were so lucky to have won a competition earlier this year to stay for 2 nights at the amazing 5 star Monate Lodge in Limpopo. We were spoiled and enjoyed 3 beautiful days alone in the Bushveld after a busy couple of weeks.
I went for a vintage look. I am working with Wildlife and never really get the oppertunity to wear nice dresses. So I went with a big dress, my Mother and Maid of Honor helped me in making this decision on the big gown. Everybody loved it !
Thanks to a wonderfull hairdresser I had a very soft curl with a little lift at the back with the length hanging down. This was a bonus for some of the photos.
For makeup I also went with a natural look. I’ve never been one for bright lipstick and I think my look was perfect for the rustic bushveld.
Being the Bushlady I am, I had to go with Cowboy boots. They were very comfortable...most of the photoshoot was in the veld so the boots helped a lot !
My jewelery was very special. My Great Grandmothers necklace was passed on to me by my Mother on this day as “something old”. This is the most precious piece of jewelery. My Maid of Honor gave me her pearl earings as “something borrowed”. My Bridesmaid gave me a beautiful arm bracelet as “something new”. And my gartherbelt was my “something blue”.
We had a weekend wedding. I have to say this was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We got to spend time with everyone for the whole weekend ! Kuthaba Bush Lodge could accomodate most of our guests. They have a very nice venue. We had a Spitbraai the Friday evening where everyone spend some time catching up with each other. Saturday was our wedding day and on Sunday morning we prepared breakfast for everyone before we all went our seperate ways. What a awesome weekend !
I had a facial about two weeks prior and a week before I had my nails done. I just drank my coconut water for my skin.
We made our own decor. We had succulents we planted in wooden boxes that my brother made for us. My Maid of Honor decorated all the glass and tin holders with hesian. We used grass we cut from the bush which saved us a lot of money. We had grass bales everywhere. This really gave the rustic look we were going for. Kuthaba have these big Chinese light balls which gives a great atmosphere to the reception area.
My groom whore a beige suit and maroon tie from Morgan & Brown Bridal. The groomsmen all whore beige Chino pants with white shirts with maroon bow ties and cross bands from Edgars.
We shopped around and finally found the perfect maroon dresses at Truworths. They all picked their own shoe style, it just needed to be maroon and they all looked amazing and was very comfortable in their outfits.
Pastor Attie from Ellisras was our marriage officer. We had a beautiful ceremony and he made all of us enjoy every moment !
We are so thankful for our photographer, Trompie van den Berg and our videographers, Gustav and Ricky from the AdShop. They captured every emotion and ensured that we will have the memories captured forever ! They truly did an amazing job and we are very satisfied with our images and videos. Thanks again guys !!
No we did everything ourselves. My maid of honor was my right hand, Ilse made our wedding day the fairy-tail it was !
Our wedding transport was the old green Land Cruiser of Kuthaba Lodge. It was a lot of fun !
Kuthaba was our caterers and everyone loved the food. That was a big relief for us. My mother baked our wedding cake...after a breakdown on their way to the venue on Friday the cake still looked and tasted amazing !
My friend Desire did our "Newspaper" which was handed out before the ceremony. This was a brilliant idea and kept our guests busy while waiting for me. Myself and Ilse did all the other stationery ourselves.
The party was a real party ! After the speeches it was time for us to open the dance floor....it was 'n bit of a rough start because of my wide gown but we managed to make the right moves and everybody joined in. It was beautiful. Thereafter we were spoiled with shooters and lots of laughter celebrating an amazing day after years of waiting....and I thank each and every person...you made our day the fairy-tail I always wanted it to be, x
