Magical Moments

Our photographer, Roxanne Larkan, being the sweet and generous person she is, chose us as her "pay it forward" for this year. She treated us to an amazing engagement shoot as well as a full day of photography for our wedding.

My amazing husband has been amazing from day 1. He helped me make decor, helped me find venues etc, chose our first dance song (I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it), put up with my stress-filled moments and supported me all the way.

We were married at our church which we consider our home. Our family, friends, pastors and fellow worship team family joined us. Our ceremony song was Thank You because we are so thankful to God for bringing us together and getting us through many tough times. Our first dance song was When I say I do by Matthew West. It perfectly expresses our feelings on the day.

I could never have done this without my best friend and husband, Richard. I will love you forever babes!

The Honeymoon

As work would not allow it, we didn't go away for long. We did however, spend a wonderful night at the View boutique hotel in Toti. My mother-in-law treated us to this amazing night.

We arrived to amazing service with a smile, rose petals on the bed, a bottle of JC le roux champagne and a box of Lindt strawberries and cream chocolates!

The next morning we had an amazing 2 course breakfast.

Our wedding night could not have been better!

My Special Day

My dress was a simple dress. Very flowy and light with pearly beads around the waist. Perfectly suited our enchanted themed wedding.

My hair was down. I had my hair curled and a headpiece was added. The headpiece was a wire flowers with pearly beads to match my dress.

My make up was done by my bridesmaid who is knowledgable about makeup and enjoys doing makeup.

My shoes were the same shoes I wore to my husband's cousin 2 and half years prior where I caught the bouquet. I caught the bouquet in the December. My hubby proposed the following April during his birthday party. He always tries to include me in everything so he made his birthday about both of us.

My lingerie was bought at Just Undies Musgrave. It was Lacey.

My necklace was a sparkly necklace with a flower to give a bit of sparkle to my look as I love sparkle (not over the top though).

My braclette was also sparkly. I got my bridesmaid and maid of honour the same braclette so we matched

The Venue

We got married to our church in Amanzimtoti called Sweetwaters Full Gospel Church. This is our spiritual home.

Wedding Elements

Our decor was done by the two of us. We made most of it. Hubby made origami flowers and swans and cut down branches.

We decorated the hall and the stage and used tea light candle lights on the tables in glass bottles that were covered in synthetic moss.

Hubby's aunt and mom sewed table cloths for us.

We had a selfie/photo station where we provided props. The back drop was Hessian with the origami items hanging on string with crystal like beads at the end.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Hubby wore a black suit, black tie and white shirt (white to match me). The groomsmen wore black shirts and trousers with a pink or purple tie

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids wore black dresses to match the groomsmen and a colour flower pinned on to match the groomsmen's ties. The wore a braclette identical to mine

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was pastor Deon Govender from Bethesda Temple. He was an assistant pastor at our church and showed an interest in us as a couple and knew a lot of what we had been through over the years

My Captured Moments

Our amazing photographer was Roxanne Larkan. She chose us as her pay it forward for the year.

I met her when we were both fostering kittens for a local organisation.

She provided an engagement shoot for us and a full day of photography at no cost. She made us feel comfortable and encouraged us to be ourselves. She really captured the best parts of the both of us. We are eternally grateful to our amazing photographer. Our photos really are amazing

The Wedding Planner

My planner that helped me co-ordinate the day was my amazing husband. No one could've done a better job than him!

Food & Cake

Terrence Cook prepared an amazing spitbraai roast. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed his food. He was on time and provided excellent food and excellent service!

Wedding Stationery

I designed our save the dates and wedding invitations as I have always enjoyed art. I drew the tree that featured on our invites.

My uncle and aunt in JHB organised for a friend of theirs to print the invites and envelopes at no charge and they paid for the invites to be couriered to Durban. We are so grateful to my aunt, uncle and their friend for this.

The Reception and Entertainment

We didn't take dance lessons. Both of us have dance backgrounds so we have rhythm. We decided not to take lessons because we couldn't afford it but also because we wanted to enjoy the moment and let it come naturally.

A family friend provided the sound system and a friend of ours, Chris, played the music on the day. He did an excellent job!

For our ceremony song we ask 2 fellow worship team members to sing and play. Clint sang and Linda played piano. They did an amazing job!
