Magical Moments

1 - Seeing my bouquet. My stepmom made an unforgettable surprise where she got a picture of my mom on my bouquet.
2 - Seeing my husband all dressed up in a suit and groomed to the T at the Altar.
3 - My Dad's eyes water when he saw me.
4 - The cake. I has a picture in my mind and a surprise for my husband. He LOVES Liverpool; there was a back section to the cake which was decorated with Liverpool symbols. When i saw it all put together i was blown away.
5 - Having my family with at the wedding and enjoying every single moment. With two big Portuguese families who enjoy a good time, how could the reception not be one to remember?
6 - My SHOES! I searched long and hard for them, only to find them two weeks before the wedding and they were a definite, "These are my wedding shoes". Pink being my Mom's favourite colour; they were perfect.

The Honeymoon

Yes. A bit of a funny story. We were meant to go to Bali, but as i was checking in the lady looked at me and said, "Mam, you're not going on this flight". My heart sank and i looked at my husband hoping that this was a joke. My passport was one week short of being valid for a full six months before departure. We called the travel agent who had arranged everything and she sent us through so many different channels only to get to the same answer we started with. Damn was i upset to know that this could have been prevented.

Nonetheless we booked our whole honeymoon at 14:00 and left the next morning.

We went to Mauritius and stayed in a beautiful hotel across from the beach and explored the island. We enjoyed traditional foods, the crystal clear water and the night life. The people and island life was perfect. We also met some great people who we now call friends.

My Special Day

I wanted a natural and classic look and i got just that. My makeup was minimal and my hair was done perfectly - not over the top and very elegant. My shoes were a statement piece - PINK. The dress was a figure hugging mermaid style dress that fitted like a glove. The veil was a veil that was worn by my grandmother and mother. My bridesmaids bought a sexy white number for the evening. I had pearl earrings, my Mom's silver bracelet, a blue necklace my parents got me and a silver hair clip.

The Venue

We got married in Hoedspruit. We had a Catholic service in the community church and enjoyed the reception at Jakkals and Wolf.

Guests stayed in and around lodges in Hoedspruit.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Hmmm... I didn't have any set regime. The only things i pampered myself with was my nails and lashes.

Wedding Elements

The colours for the wedding were a deep purple and navy blue. The tables had white table cloths, white Tiffany chairs, silver underplates and a beautiful bouquet with a vase. The main table had a string of lights behind, dainty table decorations and our names carved out in the front.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom wore a navy suit and bowtie from Woolworths and the Groomsmen wore black suits with navy ties from Oriental Plaza.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

This was quite a roller coaster. The dresses were being made from March. The dressmaker assured me everything would be perfect and the dresses would be simple to make. That did not happen.

The weekend before the wedding the dressmaker completely ruined all the dresses. Only one dress fitted properly and the other three dresses i think she must of had too much to drink while making them.

So the Tuesday before the wedding my MIL found beautiful navy dresses from Lipsy. Not the colour or the look i had in mind, but they were a perfect fit.

Marriage Officer

We had a local Catholic Priest.

My Captured Moments

We made use of a company called Photo Maria Studio who did an amazing engagement shoot and wedding shoot. The photo booth was very fun and everyone had a great time.

The videographer was Sergio Batista from Empire Videos. We've only seen a trailer (which is AMAZING).

The Wedding Planner

My stepmom was there from the get go and made sure everything went perfectly.

Wedding Transport

Well i'm not quite sure how the groom arrived at the venue, but we left in a Mercedes GLA.

Food & Cake

Lovebitez made our beautiful and delicious wedding cake. The food was prepared by a lady who goes by the name of Anne; who owns the Cotton Club restaurant.

Wedding Stationery

The best man, a graphic designer, designed all of our stationary. I printed it a printing place. All the invites were hand made as well as the thank you tags and programmes.

The Reception and Entertainment

Yes, we took dancing lessons for a few weeks - not by choice. LOL. We didn't use most of our routine for our dance, but it helped for the first dance. DJ Paul from Sounds GR8 was our DJ for the evening.
