We met while both studying in Bloemfontein. We became best friends, I fell in love, he didn't know, and after a year of vigorous prayer he finally noticed me too.
We went to Clarens for our 2 year anniversary. He suggested that we go for a hike and picnic in the Golden Gate National park - a romantic notion, but his plan was complicated by the fact that it was 3 degrees outside and I was the most unfit person in South Africa... Needless to say, after 3 min of hiking, I was ready to turn back. He had other plans though. We reached a spot with an amazing view over the Maluti mountains, opened some champagne and he got down on one knee...
After that I had so much energy - I could run down that mountain!!
One of the amazing things of our wedding was the fact that it wasn't just a day, but an entire weekend! We got married at Elandskloof in Greyton and all our guests were able to stay on the farm for the entire weekend. Talk about one big celebration and reunion!
We were limited to a budget honeymoon and therefore opted for a local honeymoon - best life choice ever! We live in the most beautiful country in the world and we had the best time exploring the garden route. One of the highlights of our honeymoon was when a few of our friends treated us for a few nights stay at Oubaai Hotel in Herolds Bay - yes, we know we have the best friends ever...
One of my main considerations for the day was comfort - I had to have shoes which I could walk in, and a dress which I could dance in. For my hair and makeup I put all my trust in the lovely Suzanne from Skoonlief, and she surpassed every expextation.

I need to take a moment to give a shout out to Carducci in Menlyn, Pretoria. That went above and beyond to give my husband his dream suit (which wasn't an easy task). He found a green tweed blazer at Carducci and they tailor made pants for him, to complete the suit. The groomsmen wore suits by Woolworths.
I had maroon skirts made for my bridesmaids and asked them to each dress it up according to their personal taste and style - they looked amazing!
Our pastor and good friend from Shofar Bloemfontein, Alistair Kingwell, who came all the way to Greyton to marry us.
Our day was captured by the immensely talented Coba Uys from Coba photography. She made us feel so comfortable and captured all the perfect moments of our day.
We had the privilege of having our day captured by Barefeet Videography after my husband won a competition of theirs when they launched their Cape Town branch this year. It was so much fun having Jesse there.
We opted only to enlist the help of an on-the-day coordinator, but Carla from Pretty Different Events made it feel like she was part of the process all along. She made every fall into place so effortlessly and went out of her way to ensure that everything on the day went smoothly.
The catering was done by Pauline Schreuder catering and was another one of the highlights of the day. All of the food was impeccable and paid extra special attention to detail in the presentation of all the courses.
I designed all the stationary and the family jumped in to help print, cut and bind all the programs, menus etc.
The very talented Jacob Swann performed at the canapes, sound was done by southern sound , and Gert Coetzee made a guest appearance to spin the tables.
