Our Wedding Day was amazing to say the least!
It was a very special day not only because I married 'my person,' or because two families became one, but because we shared cultural experiences amongst ourselves and our guests. I am a White South African. Jason is Chinese. His family are second generation South Africans. We were absolutely blessed and honoured to have a Catholic Ceremony followed by the Traditional Chinese Tea Pouring Ceremony. We both wore red for this, as it is associated with many positive qualities and ideals, including: Success, Loyalty, Honour, Fertility, Passion, Love and Happiness.
Another highlight of the day was nailing our first dance! Jason and I are not exactly what most would call 'dancers.' We went for a few lessons and practiced in our tiny little lounge, We had a blast and everyone loved it!
We went on a mini honeymoon as we are saving for the Okavongo Delta for the real deal honeymoon getaway!
We were very privileged to be invited away with a couple who are also very close friends. We stayed at their family-owned Private Game Lodge near the Kruger National Park. It was absolutely incredible with the big 5 showing themselves everyday!
My Wedding dress was absolutely out of this world. It was a Pronovias dress made from Spanish lace and the detailing was just beautiful. I purchased it from PDe La Vida in Fourways.
I wanted my Wedding day preparation to be personal, filled with happiness, love and fun! For that reason, I chose friends to do my hair and make up on the day. I wasn't nervous at all and was referred to as 'the most chilled bride ever.' I was relaxed because I could trust everyone around me. I chose Elia to do my hair as she is not only my hair dresser but a good friend as well. Elia Lopes has an outstanding portfolio and has won many awards in the Hair Industry. I was honoured to have her as the stylist for my mom, bridesmaids and myself on the day.
My make up was done by my best friend Talia Hugo. We had so much fun during our different make up trials throughout the year to get that perfect 'natural' look!
I wore the most comfy and beautiful white Victoria Secret underwear on the day.
A very close friend lent me her pearl stud earrings for the day and my mom lent me her stunning pearl bracelet.
We got married in the Chapel at Leopard Lodge in Magaliesberg. The views were breathtaking. The Lodge can sleep 16 singles and 32 guests sharing. We invited close friends and family who had travelled from outside of JHB and overseas to spend the night with us. The rest of our guests stayed in B&B's all around the area.
To be honest I didn't really have a regime going on. I just followed my normal eating plan and beauty routines.l I made sure that I exercised daily though. I had a few spa treatments before the big day (all gifts from friend's at my Kitchen Tea)
We decided that because we wanted a very rustic theme for our wedding that we would use Proteas, Rock Roses, Roses and moss for our Guest Table flowers. We had wooden boxes made from pallet wood. We organised all the flowers ourselves and my mom was the brain behind all the flower decor.
We used the following flowers in our Main Table arrangements:
Red King Proteas. Hybrid Proteas, Safari Blush,Hypericum Berries, Gypsophla Million Stars, Penny Gum, Leather Leaf and Ruscus.
Jason wore a very well fitted suit that he purchased from Euro Suit at Bride&Co in Rivonia. The Groomsman hired tan suits from the same store.
My bridesmaids and I found a stunning dress on Pinterest. It had a high neck line and an open back. We bought all the material, lining, zips and cotton at Chamdor and my aunt made the dresses for us. I like to describe the colour as ' the closest pink to a King Protea'
We were married by Father Fidgeon, OMI, a Catholic Priest.
We had THE MOST INCREDIBLE Photographer; Johann Bekker. We were lucky enough to meet him at the Wedding Expo at Oakfield Farm earlier in the year. Johann had the most incredible portfolio. I would HIGHLY recommend him!
He has different packages.
Our package included 2 photographers on the day, videography, drone coverage, same day slide show, photo booth and 10 hours of coverage.
We were given 20 photos the NEXT day!
Our Wedding food was provided by the venue.
Our cake was very different and unique. We decided to order a 'cheese round' Wedding cake made up of layers of different cheeses. We ordered cheese sticks, bread sticks, biltong, dry wors, fruit and honeys to compliment the different cheeses ordered. The company we used is called 'Belfoire Italian Deli' in Deco Park.
We decided to not have stationary printed. Our Wedding invitation was designed online and emailed to everyone.
The party was the BEST party that I have ever been to!!
We hired a DJ from 'Perfect Tone'
