Luwaney Janse van Rensburg

Married on Dec 9, 2017 in Limpopo

What dreams are made of

My husband and I met in 2006. He was the new boy in our school. We became friends and started dating in 2009.
We went to our matric dance together and thereafter we were off to varsity.
After 9 years of dating, he proposed and we got married the same year.

There are no words to describe our wedding weekend. It was more than I could ever dream of.

All our guests arrived at Klein Kariba holiday resort late the Friday afternoon and we kicked the weekend off with a braai.
On the Saturday morning, all the guests enjoyed the resort while I went off to the spa with all the mommies and bridesmaids to properly relax before the wedding.

The wedding ceremony and reception was perfect. Not a thing out of place and everything went smoothly. I couldn't have ever asked for more.

On the Sunday morning, we met all our guests for breakfast and then we were off to our honeymoon...

Magical Moments

Having a wedding weekend instead of a wedding day made it so much more memorable.

The Honeymoon

Honeymoon was a ten day stay in Southern Sun The Cullinan hotel in Cape Town. We walked an average of 10km each day. We wanted to do as much as possible during our visit to the mother city.

My Special Day

I wanted rose gold shoes and posted a picture on FB asking if anyone knows where I could find a similar shoe.
A friend who lives in Australia sent me a photo asking if I like the shoes. I loved it and she said that because she can't be at the wedding, she'll buy me the shoes.

My dress was made by the lovely designers from Eulogeo Zeloo Couture. I hired the dress so I was very thankful that it was still made to suit my body perfectly.

Hair and makeup was a gift from my hairdresser. A very natural look.

The Venue

Klein Kariba holiday resort just outside of Bella Bella.
All the guests arrived on Friday and left on Sunday morning after breakfast.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I joined the gym six months before we said "I do". Other than that, I didn't really do anything out of the ordinary.

Hubby on the other hand lost 25kg...

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My only bridesmaid was my sister. She had her dress made the week before the wedding...

Marriage Officer

A family friend did us the honours.
Her husband was our master of ceremony.

My Captured Moments

The year before we got engaged, our family did a family photo shoot. I was so impressed with the photos that we got the same photographers to do our engagement photos. Hubby is very camera shy but the engagement photos were perfect. So we asked them to do the wedding photos.

For our guest book, we asked all the guests to take a polaroid photo. A friend gave me a backdrop that she used for her wedding. My sister just customized it for us.

The Wedding Planner

The resort has a coordinator that helped us with most of the logistics.

But we did most of the planning ourselves.

Food & Cake

The resort did the catering and a friend baked our cake.
Hubby's mom and her husband did a lovely biltong and biscuit spread for our guests for pre wedding snacks while we took the photos.

Wedding Stationery

Hubby designed our stationery and printed it at the local printers.

The Reception and Entertainment

We didn't rehearse our first dance at all. Hubby though that it would be much more special if it was spontaneous. When we entered the reception after the photos, we started dancing.
My dad and I officially opened the dance floor.
