Magical Moments

The highlight of the day had to be when I came down the aisle and saw the tears of joy in my husband's eyes - it made me feel so special. Another magical moment was our first dance - it was as if everyone else disappeared and it was just the two of us moving to our song.

I can go on and on - the entire day from opening my eyes until our sparkler send off was wonderful. The music had our guest on the dance floor until the end, the food was out of this world and the relaxed beach atmosphere set the perfect ambiance to make for a perfect evening. I will cherish the day forever.

The Honeymoon

We went on a mini honeymoon for a weekend at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve and it was amazing! We did not have the funds to go on our dream honeymoon (beach resort) straight after the wedding, but we are planning to make up for that later this year.

My Special Day

My dress was a glowing warm color with lace trickling down the bodice. I wanted a soft, warm, flowing dress and I found just that. My friends said I look like a fairy and I liked the idea. To take the fairy look further I went bare feet and had my hair styled with soft natural curls with a hair vine intertwined between the curls. I made the hair vine myself and I also made one for each of my bridesmaids. I wore rose gold earrings and a rose gold tennis bracelet which my husband gave to me on our wedding day. To round the look off I had a smokey eye and deep dark red lipstick.

The Venue

We got married at De Vette Mossel in Grootbrak. The venue is on the beach and the ceremony took place looking out on the ocean - at the 'I do' we had a superpod of dolphins who where playing in the waves. The entire ceremony and reception took place on the sea sand and we ate with mussel shells.

Wedding Elements

The venue already has a lot of detail that compliments the beach location. We only added some table decorations which consisted of candles, books, ribbon, shells, a wooden disc and a bird cage filled with flowers. I collected the decor pieces at random shops or bought it next to the road. My mother did the flower arrangements with help from my aunt and grandmother and the groom's men and some family helped to arrange the decorations on the day of the wedding. The color scheme was navy, gold and blush pink. We rented fairy lights that was used to cover the roof and there was a fairy light curtain behind the cake table.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom wore light brown pants with a white shirt and a navy jacket. My husband had 3 groomsmen and 1 groomslady. The groomsmen wore brown pants with a white button up shirt. The groomslady wore a navy infinity dress. The groom, the groomsmen and the groomslady wore a wooden badge and everyone went barefoot since it was a beach wedding.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids wore navy infinity dresses which was custom made for them. They also wore barefoot sandals which Leah (one of the bridesmaids) made and a hair vine which I made. They all wore their own individual accessories.

Marriage Officer

Ds Paul Roodt from NG church in Grootbrak. He gave such a beautiful message out of Prediker 4.

My Captured Moments

Dawid Botha took photo's of every moment and it was so special for us to look at it after the wedding. We loved reliving the day through his beautiful photo's. He also took a video for us of the important moments, which we still look forward to seeing.

We also had a digital camera next to our guest book for the guest to take photo's throughout the evening.

The Wedding Planner

Mostly I planned everything myself - with lots of help from my mother of course. It made the day so much more special, because we got to choose every detail in order to create our dream wedding.

Wedding Transport

Francios, one of my mother's friends borrowed us his antique VW beetle. The beetle is a dusty orange color which looked beautiful with the sea sand and blue ocean backdrop.

Food & Cake

The food was prepared by De Vette Mossel and it mostly consisted of seafood - our favorite. We went to De Vette Mossel for my birthday dinner with some friends and it was the amazing food that sealed the deal on our search for a wedding venue.

The cake and cupcakes were made by San-Mari (the groomslady and groom's close friend and cousin). The cake and cupcakes were chocolate and red velvet with marshmallow dipped in chocolate topping. She decorated the cupcakes to match our wedding decor and it all came together perfectly. I could not get enough of the cupcakes and the guest even took some home with them. My husband and I custom made the cake stand from wooden discs and a steel rod.

Wedding Stationery

I designed our wedding website (https://liesa2811.wixsite.com/liesawilburwedding), wedding invitations, save the dates, wedding reminder cards and wedding program myself.

We kept everything electronic except for the wedding program's, which we printed on white shimmer paper.

The Reception and Entertainment

Yes, we took dance lessons - and I'm so glad we did. Before the wedding my husband could not sokkie or waltz at all and now we love dancing together. We are even considering to start taking ballroom classes together.

DJ Frank did our sound and lighting. He knew exactly when to play what type of song to ensure that the guest had the dance floor full throughout the evening.
