Magical Moments

Mike and I live in London so being here made it a bit more difficult with planning the wedding. We wanted a venue and suppliers that made our planning / experience stress free and enjoyable. Every element of the lead up and the big day, the venue to the incredibly talented suppliers, by far made it the most incredible experience and if I could I would do it over again in a heart beat.

We constantly reminisce about our wedding day which felt like the most sensational dream. We had the BEST time and couldn’t have wished for it to have been any better. It was nothing short of perfect.

Our friends and family often talk about the wedding and what a brilliant time they all had! A true testament to the magnificent day we had certainly was enhanced by the spectacular setting and the great group of friends and family, who travelled from near and far, who were all there celebrating with us.

We are so incredibly grateful for the huge effort and genuine kindness from all the suppliers. They all made everything feel so natural and easy which was exactly how we wanted the celebrations to feel:)

We hope many more people get to enjoy their very special day just as much as we did.

The Honeymoon

We currently live in London and got married at home to South Africa a couple of days before Christmas. With all the excitement of being home, we decided to spend as much time with our closest friends and family leading up to Christmas. We then enjoyed a small, super relaxed mini moon in the African bush at Bakubung Bush Lodge in the Pilansberg, which was an absolute treat and the perfect ending to an already sensational December.

We are planning to enjoy a proper honeymoon in May this year.

My Special Day

My dress, which I absolutely adore and would wear again in a heart beat, was a contemporary two piece designed by Willow by Watters which I purchased at Love Bridal in London. The tule skirt flowed elegantly and the top was beaded with the finest detail. The style was sophisticated and contemporary and complemented by a gorgeous full length veil by Joyce Jackson Veils. It was the perfect dress for me.

My hair and make up by Kendyl from Nixon Make-up was flawless.

Mike gave me the most magnificent rose gold diamond earings as a wedding gift which complemented the detailing of my top perfectly.

The Venue

We got married at Cranford Country Lodge in Curry's Post. The setting, the food, the chapel, the organization - everything about Cranford was just spectacular.

The greatest thing about getting married at Cranford for us was that it felt like a holiday. We were so relaxed and so calm. We had a braai the night before with our friends and famoily which was great fun and the perfect way to start the wedding festivities. All the staff were so accommodating and made every effort to make us feel special. There is no other wedding on the day so their full undivided attention is on you and the guests which was wonderful. Cranford is a family run venue which is why is felt so comfortable. They are all invested in you.

We loved the fact that the venue had enough accommodation for 60 guests on the property and an abundance of accommodation in and around the area.

Wedding Elements

Cranford Country Lodge is a venue that is already just so naturally beautiful so we didn't feel the need to go over the top with decor. Our bouquets and flowers, all made by Natural Nostalgia, were filled with the perfect combination of green leaves and white accents - the perfect fit to our wedding theme. We dressed the tables with elegant glassware filled with natural leaves and stems, grey linen napkins and an array of candles which enhanced the incredible ambiance in the room.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Mike looked incredibly handsome in his navy suit and white shirt from Moss Bros London, a grey Harrison Tweed waist coat from Asos, navy tie from Zara and his leather shoes from Dune. His ring was designed by Lorean Jewellery and has a polished edge and matt centre.

The Groomsmen looked so charming in their navy suits from Woolworths and suspenders and bow ties from Moss Bros, London.

All the men wore bold patterned socks from Happy socks.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

All my bridesmaids live in various cities around the world; Johannesburg, London and Hong Kong so we thought it would be best if everyone got to source and choose their own style. The bridesmaids all looked stunning in elegant white cocktail dresses, sourced from various stores across the world, paired with nude block heel sandals.

Marriage Officer

Official, Legal officiator - Mr Leatham from St Therese, Edenvale

My Captured Moments

Kate Martens was our photographer and she captured our day perfectly. She made us feel completely comfortable and happy and produced photographs that showcased the true, natural emotions of our wedding day.

Reminiscing about our wedding day is so easy when looking back at the magnificent moments Kate captured.

The Wedding Planner

Alex, whose family own Cranford, orchestrated everything and was amazing. I dealt with all the suppliers and finalised everything initially but she liaised with everyone leading up to the wedding day to ensure that everyone arrived on time and everything flowed smoothly. Having her manage the finer details made the day totally stress free and very relaxed. She was fully invested in ensuring that Mike and I were completely happy during this magnificent time and without her and her team, our day may not have been so sensational.

Food & Cake

The food was sensational!

We didn’t have time to do any tasters prior to the wedding because we weren’t around and were living in London but it wasn’t necessary because we were absolutely thrilled with the food selection through out the day.

Wedding Stationery

Being an Interior Designer and having graphic skills, I produced all the wedding invitations and stationary for the wedding.

The Reception and Entertainment

We had the most incredible evening which ended at sunrise the next day with some of our guests.

We were entertained by Musician, Antonio and his wife from I Need A Show and Allan from Dj Worx who were all fantastic. The music selection was brilliant and the dance floor was never quiet.

Mike and I had all intentions of getting some dance lessons - from a friend of ours who is an excellent dancer, but with time constraints we didnt get a chance to, however on the night we went with the flow and our dance was just perfect.

Our first dance song, was Mumford and Sons ft Baaba Maal, There will be time.
