Magical Moments

It is hard to pin point specific moments of our wedding day as it was overall a memorable occasion, but a definite highlight of my wedding day was walking down the aisle and seeing the tears roll down my husbands face. It was an heartwarming moment to see his affection towards me.

The exchanging of our vows was the second highlight of my wedding day, I never thought I'd cry so much during the vows, but that was truly special.

Our first dance as husband and wife was another memorable moment for me. The song we chose was "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran which perfectly described our 10 year relationship and thus it was meaningful and displayed our affection for one another.

Another highlight was having our family and friends celebrate and share this memorable occasion with us.

The Honeymoon

We went to Knysna for our honeymoon.

We spent 4 nights at a beautiful 4 star hotel, called the Moorings, Premier Hotel. We explored and done quite a bit of sightseeing.

Everyday we had done something different such as visiting the Elephant Park Sanctuary which was 30mins outside Knysna. We had the wonderful opportunity to feed the elephants and be able to be up close with these gentle giants. It truly was a great experience. We went to Plettenberg Bay and took a stroll on the beach, we went Kayaking which was our first time, hence imagine our nerves and went on a lovely sunset boat cruise which took us out to the Knysna Heads.

Overall our honeymoon was memorable and we enjoyed it to the fullest.

My Special Day

My wedding was a modern vintage theme and thus I opted for a wedding dress that suited my theme. I went to visit Brides of Somerset and was assisted by the owner, Averil who found my dream wedding dress. It wasn't your normal white wedding dress but a ivory, mocha colour mermaid style dress which i absolutely fell in love with after i fitted it on. My dress was from the Blue by Enzoani 2017 collection, called Jion which was imported from America.

My make-up and hairstylists used was from Blush Make-up and Hair services. The owner Alicia and her team done and amazing job with my hair and make-up and i truly felt like a princess. I opted for a up-style hairdo with a plait on the side which fitted with my theme. My make-up was not too bold but suited the colour of my dress perfectly and thus went with a gold shimmer eyeshadow and a soft red/brick colour lipstick.

I decided to go with the traditional "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" and thus wore my nude Sissy Boy peep toe platform along with my late grandmother's water pearls necklace and bracelet. It was a special moment to be able to wear something from my late grandmother, knowing that she couldn't be there in person but was with me in spirit. My beautiful pearl earrings was something new and matched the water pearls oh so perfectly.

ENZOANI

In 2005, a new bridal collection emerged and quickly rose to compete with top brands by merging traditional and modern European styles into exquisitely hand crafted gowns.

The Venue

We got married at the St Andrews Anglican Church in Northpine and had our reception at the beautiful Eureka Estate in Durbanville.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Every girl's dream is to look beautiful on their wedding day and with that comes getting into shape.

I started gyming at Foreverstrong Durbell in July 2017, which initially was suppose to be a 6 month contract but after seeing results within the first month i decided to extend my contract to a year. I lost about 8kgs and fortunately for me my wedding dress was only taken in for alterations at the end of November and thus it wasn't too difficult to keep the weight off.

Wedding Elements

As i mentioned previously we decided to go with a modern vintage/rustic theme for our wedding with dusty pink, mint green and gold as our colour scheme. Thus all our elements regarding decor and furniture fitted our theme well.

We had wooden tables with gold tiffany chairs to suite our theme. Our centerpiece consisted of wooden logs with a birdcage which had a thick gold candle in the middle. Along each side of the bird cages we had various crystal vases and glass bottles with the most beautiful flower arrangements (ranging from dusty pink, to cream and greenery) and gold votives which provided extra light especially for the evening which looked absolutely stunning.

The bridal table was beautifully decorated and had a hanging shelf with flowers hanging on top of the bridal table.

The venue was decorated so beautifully from table decor to fairy lights hanging as a backdrop, it was everything we imagined and more. Upon entering the venue, it took our breath away.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The groom wore a dark navy suite which was bought at Top Man and paired it with a ivory/mocha coloured tie. He wore an off white coloured flower pin which matched perfectly with his suit and my dress.

The groomsmen wore a similar shade navy suit which was bought at Markhams and paired it with a navy coloured tie. The groomsmen also wore a dusty pink flower pin which paired with the bridesmaids dresses. The bridal party looked absolutely stunning together.

Both groom and groomsmen wore the same shirt, belt and shoes. The shirt was an off white colour to match my dress and they paired it with a tan leather belt and tan leather shoes which pulled their outfits together.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids looked absolutely gorgeous on my wedding day.

They wore a dusty pink lace coloured, long style dress which was designed and made by Karla and her team, from Kameo Designs. The style chosen was to fit my modern vintage theme which matched perfectly.

They paired their dress with a rose gold sandal and rose gold accessories i.e. bracelet and earrings.

Marriage Officer

Our marriage officer was Father Theodore, from the Transfiguration Anglican Church in Bellville.

My Captured Moments

Our videographer and photographer was Marko and Lize from KovacevicBosch. They did an incredible job. We used them for our engagement shoot as well and they definitely know what they are doing. We felt comfortable in front of them and they truly captured very special moments.

As additional entertainment for the guests we had an additional photographer, Amber Du Plessis from ADP photography. She did an amazing job, capturing moments of our guests and taking snaps of them with the photo props that we brought along.

The Wedding Planner

Fortunately for us, our venue had their own coordinator, Mieke (venue manager, chef and coordinator) and she planned and assisted us with our wedding from our first consultation and leading up to our wedding day. We were definitely in good hands.

Food & Cake

Our food was prepared by the venue, Eureka. Mieke and her team prepared delicious, tasty food which comprised from Salmon Blini as our starter, to butter chicken, sirloin and leg of lamb with various sides as our mains and ending it off with a sweet triple chocolate mousse and our wedding cake.

Our beautiful wedding cake was made by Sam from the wedding cakery and my oh my was our cake delicious. It was a 3 tiered cake consisting of red velvet as the first tier, vanilla with white chocolate ganash as the second tier and red velvet as the last tier.

Wedding Stationery

We designed and printed all our wedding stationary which fitted with our theme and colour scheme.

The Reception and Entertainment

Our first dance as husband and wife we choreographed ourselves and practiced literally 2 days before the wedding.

We had a live band to entertain the guests during the canape hour as well as during the evening along with a DJ which surely got the guests on their feet.
