How did your love story begin?

We both worked for the same company. I didn't really notice him in the beginning as we had such a high staff turnover in that department that I thought, "oh another one! Wonder how long he'l last?" ... AND! He lasted ! According to him he had noticed me however I didn't have the most approachable body language. It took some planning to strike up a conversation haha! Needless to say, that first conversation has turned into a lifetime of conversations!

Tell us all about the proposal.

Apparently he'd been planning a proposal for a couple of months. The original plan was supposed to take place on our yearly holiday at the Knysna Oyster fest. I grew up in Knysna so he thought that would be THE place to do it. I had secretly planned a trip to Thailand before we headed off to Knysna. When I surprised him with the tickets this threw his plans off completely! Apparently our Thailand trip was the most stressful holiday he'd had! He left the proposal to our last night there! For 10 days he carried the ring with him. From having heart pulpitations every time we walked through the metal detectors at the airport, to me digging in the bag looking for towels and sunblock, to making sure the box hadn't fallen out of the bag on our day trips, to finding the right place to do it. Eventually on our last night while sitting on the beach eating ice cream he started digging in his pocket... it didn't slide out his pocket as smoothly as he wanted it to haha! And that's when he asked me to be his wife!

Magical Moments

Both My father & step father mean a lot to me and each one has played a role in one way or another. Their was no way I could have had one and not the other walk me down the isle. So... I had them BOTH walk me down. One on each arm. To me & all my guests that was a memorable moment!

Most of our family & friends all live abroad. The highlight for me was sitting at the bridal table taking a look around the room and seeing how we have brought all the special people in our life together. Most of our guests hadden't seen eachother in over 10 years. To see everyone laughing, chatting , dancing and having a good time was definitely a memorable moment!

The Honeymoon

On the 20th of Feb we will be making our way to Austria. A first white winter for my Mr!
Can't wait to have a chuckle when he learns how to ski... hehe!

My Special Day

I wanted to go for elegant but not over the top. Making a statement but keeping it simple.

The Venue

Roca on Dieu Donne Wine Estate

Roca on Dieu Donne Wine Estate

Iconic views of the Franschhoek valley, breath-taking landscapes and a perfect venue for weddings and functions

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I dont believe in girls doing crash diets before their wedding or changing their hair color and look to something they saw in a magazine. We should all be our natural selves.
My career is personal training so I kept up my usual training routine. If I felt like a chocolate I had one... or 2!
I definitely had my nails done for the big day! But my general health & beauty habbits stayed the same

Wedding Elements

As mentioned above with my dress and look for the day, I generally wanted to keep everything simple. Our venue was beautiful inside and out so we didnt really need to do much. Our decor company @bloomingwonderful did an amazing job with the flowers & stationery. We had minimal flowers on the tables and added some candles. We wanted everyone to have fun so we put more focus on entertaining our guests. As it was a hot Decembers day we had mini magnum ice creams added to the canepes. We had lawn games : giant jenga, bowls & and some golf clubs where the guys could hit corks into the vineyards.
We added fairy lights to the outside area because lets be honest... fairy lights always look pretty at night!

My Groom And His Groomsmen

The Groom had a light Navy suit on with brown shoes and belt. Finished with a floral Tie.
The groomsmen had Navy pants, white shirts, maroon suspenders and wait for it.... wooden bow ties! The best man made all the groomsmen wooden bow ties which were a hit amongst the guests.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I let each bridesmaid choose their own dresses. It worked out well as my two sister chose the same dress and my Husbands two sisters chose the same dress. At the end of the day you want your bridesmaids to feel comfortable & pretty on the day. I also suggested they find a dress which they would wear again one day.

Marriage Officer

"I do weddings" is the companies name. Alison did our ceremony and she was great! Even the guests complimented her on how well she spoke and how relevant her message was. Kept it simple and suited and what she had to say suited us as a couple. She was funny to!

My Captured Moments

Justin & Simone Davis were our photographers. They are husband and wife and one of the most fun couples we have met! Their service was 5 star as well as their photos. We cant wait to see the rest!
Red dot media did our video. Jaco was super professional! And worked well with our photographers. We cant wait to see the final video. Its the only way I get to relive the day!

The Wedding Planner

Our venue has an events coordinater and she was brilliant! Everything flowed smoothly without any hick ups.

Wedding Transport

Haha I used my parents prado... I didnt feel it necessary to hire a car which none of my guests were going to see.

Food & Cake

Roca is the restaurant on Dieu Donne wine farm. Their food is always good!

Our wedding cake was made by Candy & Lace. It was a 4 tier cake with each tier being a different flavour.
Chocolate, Vanilla, red velvet & carrot. The cake was a hit. Our guests even took take-aways!
Our cake was used as desert.

Wedding Stationery

Blooming wonderful did all our stationery along with the decor

The Reception and Entertainment

As a couple we are known to be useless dancers... so my husband being the good sport that he is took dance lessons with me. We had a beautifully choreographed dance. When walking into the reception area and onto the dance floor we decided to scrap the dance and just wing it! And it worked out great. So many of our guests joined us on the dance floor. It was beautiful!

DJ Dean was our DJ. He was Great! Our dance floor was permanently full. He read ths crowed so well and played music that kept everyone out of their seats. And thats what we wanted!
