Magical Moments

The absolute highlight of the day was walking down the aisle to my soon to be husband knowing that I am going to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and partner!

Other memorable moments and highlights include getting ready with the most special ladies in my life and knowing that my husband is enjoying getting ready with the special people in his life.

I will never forget the moment when my bridesmaids zipped me into my dress and seeing my parents and future mother-in-law's faces for the first time after a was completely dressed.

Kissing my husband for the fist time and walking through the confetti knowing that we finally made it to this day after 7 years!

Bracing the cold with my new husband just to get that one extra photo and then just one more. We were done with the photo's way to early for the starters, etc. so we went and waited in front of the fire place, just us two, on a summers day while our guests enjoyed their amuse bush.

Sharing our first dance and just being in the moment!

The food, oh my, it was amazing!

Dancing the night away and then having some more fun around a fire place until the early hours of the morning.

The Honeymoon

We went to the lovely Mauricia in Grand Baie, Mauritius. It was truly breathtaking!

My Special Day

I wanted to be elegant, stylish and comfortable. My main goal was to be able to look back at the photos in a year or 5 or 10 and still think that my dress, hair and makeup was perfect and classy.

I had a simple tulle strapless mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline from Blue Enzoani. I could not have dreamt of a more perfect dress.

I dreamt about my dress for months and formed the picture with my hair up in a soft messy bun with my makeup done just right long before the day had arrived.

My makeup was done by the talented Corné from Beautiful Change and hair by Yolande from Exclusive Bridal Hair.

I wanted my jewellery to be a mixture of pearls and have some sparkle at the same time. In the end my dress was very plain and the jewellery added just the right amount of detail to the perfect dress.

My shoes were my something blue and the heels I had on was actually a second pair I bought =) I switched to flats after the ceremony to enjoy the celebration as much as possible.

I went for comfortable with the "lingerie" ;-)

The Venue

We got married at the exquisite Oxbow Country Estate in Bronkhorstspruit.

We fell in love with the venue on our first visit and could not wait to share it with our friends and family during our wedding. We truly could not think of a better venue!

Our immediate relatives and some family and friends staid over for the night and enjoyed a lovely breakfast the following morning while we were off for our honeymoon.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

I tried to eat healthily as much as possible and excluded sugar and carbs such as bread, etc. We did some exercises at home to get fit, and the combination did work to some extent. The week of the wedding my maid of honour took me for some relaxing messages and I went for a pedicure and manicure the day before the wedding.

Wedding Elements

We tried to keep the décor classy and elegant. We tried to use glass where possible to keep the look clean. Our colour pallet was blush and navy.

Our flowers was a mixture of blush and whites and included some greenery. We went for the loose arrangements to create a more relaxed atmosphere. We also added touches of navy throughout the day to incorporate the secondary colour.

We had a Perspex "unplugged wedding" sign made for the reception and had a stand for the cones with confetti, which was blush and white rose petals.

Our seating chart was a photo frame with each table having its own frame. The frame stood on one of the venue's easels. All the other furniture was provided by the venue.

The uplighters during the reception was included in our package from the DJ.

Café Fleur & Cor de Rosa is no ordinary flower shop – it is a hub of bridal activity & event planning.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Bertie (the groom) wore a dark navy suit from Jones & Kent with a white shirt and blush tie.

The groomsmen wore navy trousers (from Woolworths) with white shirts and navy ties.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids wore long blush dresses with tulle and lace.

Marriage Officer

Ds Santel Malan from Three Rivers

My Captured Moments

Our photographer was the lovely and talented Elzanne from Arline Photography and Videography. She made our day easy and captured the beautiful moments through the ice cold wind and rain. We did not make use of a photo booth.

The Wedding Planner

Mariette from Oxbow Country Estate was our coordinator. We could not have asked for a better coordinator or venue! She handled everything perfectly and knew when and where to help without even being asked.

Wedding Transport

Oxbow has a chapel and reception on the same grounds, we did not need transport between the ceremony and reception.

Food & Cake

Oxbow Country Estate did a splendid job with all the food. We had such a lovely meal with a few surprises included for even ourselves. The food was amazing and we are still receiving compliments for it!

The cake was a 2 tier cake consisting of one Lindt and Salted Caramel Cake and on Espresso Cake! Probably the best wedding cake we have ever had. Supplied by Cherry Whisk.

Wedding Stationery

The lovely Rochelle Smuts from Papermoon Collective! She is absolutely wonderfull!!

The Reception and Entertainment

We did not take dance lessons, we did practice a bit just to get the motion right. We wanted to be in the moment and not to have a rehearsed dance that needs to be perfect. Our bridal party joined in halfway through our fist dance.

The DJ was from Blast Entertainment. They did a splendid job with the lighting and keeping everyone on their feet until we had to leave the reception hall.
