When all was about done and I put my veil on and said "I look like a bride", and it seemed so surreal.
When I took my father's hand to walk down the aisle and it was at that moment I began to feel nervous and I squeezed his hand and told him I loved him.
Seeing the look on my Fiance's (at that time still) face when I entered the church.
Cutting of the cake not realizing there was a board in between each layer and we tried to cut it all the way through making complete fools of ourselves.
Dancing the best we ever had together for our first dance.
Most of all just pushing all worries and cares aside and making the most of the day
We flew out the following Monday for Malaga Spain.
Incredible gift from his parents, our accommodation. 10 days of rest, sun and exploring.
The look I wanted for my entire wedding was simplistic yet elegant.
It was the look I went with for my dress, I wanted lace, as lace is very elegant to me.
The shoes I chose ones that were simple enough to go with my dress and high enough that I could last in them all night.
Jewelry needed to have a bit more of a bling to them, as the dress was more plain. But again not over the top, earrings with a bracelet and then my wedding rings. So I went with swarovski crystals.
Make up I wanted it to look natural but I wanted her to enhance my eyes, and use a bit of a darker tone around them to make them pop.
My hair was 50's pinup inspired, and to the side as my dress had lace that came up the one side of my shoulder, so my hair fell on the other side where there was nothing.
Lingerie... lets just say comfort for the day and pretty for the honeymoon.
We had our ceremony at the Moederkerk in Stellenbosch, and then had our reception at the Hudson's at Vredenheim etsate also in Stellenbosch.
Both beautiful venues and we were very happy with them.
Many guests who live in Cape Town used Uber or some booked accomodation near by but we stayed on the Estate.
Heating healthy was a bi\g part of it to keep ym skin looking clear and using a good skin product.
I actually had adult braces done in 2016, once I realized this was the man I wanted to marry, I had had skew teeth my entire life and we didn't have the money to do it when I was a teenager, so i decided that for my wedding day I wanted my smile to be the smile I had always dreamed of having and it was.
So my braces were removed 2 weeks before the wedding and I did a whitening treatment. They are due to go back on for a few more months in 2 weeks.
Also many rescue tablets the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding.
We used orchids as our center pieces, 2 stems in a glass vase that we bought.
Besides the bouquets and 3 pots of flowers for the church, that was the just of our flowers for the wedding.
We had a dry ice machine for our first dance and special lightening, which was provided by our Dj.
Besides the flowers, the rest of the decor was done by the venue.
We went with white, glass and silver on the tables with splashes of blue.
We hired suits from Mr Suit Hire in Brackenfell, they all wore grey suits, except the groom wore a wast coat.
We had little wooden pins made int he shape of pilot wings that said Groomsman for him and wingman for the 2 groomsmen, as my husband is a pilot.
They wore silver ties with silver pocket holders and black shoes and belts
My Bridesmaids were a bit more difficult, I spent month looking for dresses that were the blue I wanted, a sky blue, but most of the places only had baby blue.
Eventually I found a designer and maker of clothes and they have 2 shopping outlets in the Northern Suburbs, called Radeen Fashions, we picked a dress and she made the 2 dresses for me in a periwinkle blue. Stunning colour but not too soft.
They gave me an incredible price and we were able to do fittings.
I wanted their hair up. with body int he front as the dresses were not open neck, and we did also subtle make-up with a bit darker on the eyes.
They were silver jewelry with diamante as we, earings, bracelets and their wedding rings. Same as me, not at big.
Shoes were silver strap heals.
My husbands doomenie from his home down officiated our wedding.
She is a lovely woman, she met with us both and got to know us and we were both very happy with her
Our photographer was Gilliam Olwage, he works together with his wife to do the photo's.
He takes stunning pictures and has such an easement in what he does. He makes you feel comfortable during the photo captures.
Our videographer was a college of his called Vanessa. She was also warm and friendly.
We did video dedications, which started while we were busy doing our photo's and she slowly got everyone towards the end of the night, ending with a dedication to each other.
I did not, but my mother-in-law loves weddings and she had many contacts from when she helped plan for my sister-in-laws wedding and we did it together.
She organised the orchids for us and all the flowers. helped with all the invites and paper goods.
She was my planner of sorts.
I stayed at the venue the Friday night and got ready there, we then hired an old Jaguar from Cool cats what run fromt he estate, they dropped myself and the bridesmaids at the wedding and then after the ceremony drove us around Stellenbosch for a few photo's and then tot he venue.
beautiful car and felt like a celebrity driving around in it, because as you pass everyone looks and waves. Amazing experience.
The food was prepared by the Hudson's, as during the day they are in fact a restaurant. And it was delicious.
Our cake was made locally by a woman in Wellington. The first layer was Vanilla sponge with ganache icing, then chocolate sponge with a toffee/caramel icing and lastly red velvet sponge with a cream cheese icing.
Was devine.
We designed our own, but used locally printer to help print and cut our paper stationary and used a local woman in Wellington, who is incredibly talented, to put it all together.
Our Dj, did everything. His name is Gideon and his company's name is PG Sounds.
He supplied all lighting and sound. He was on ball and very interactive with the crowd. He took time to get to know our likes and dislikes and the demographics of our guests.
We did not go to dance classes, but practiced our sokkie skills at 10 at night the Thursday before the wedding.
We had an Organist in our ceremony, Johann Enslin, he was very good, since the church has such an incredible organ, we decided to take advantage of it. Played our entrance and exit songs.
Our Doomenies Husband sang 1 hymn for us in our ceremony, he created an amalgamation of popular Hymns, singing a chorus in English and 1 in Afrikaans, as I am English and my Husband is Afrikaans.
The I asked him specifically to sing a snip bit of the song: The Book of Love, while we were signing the registry and in the background I had a slide playing with pictures of our journey together. It was very special for me.
