Our wedding day was on the 28th of October. The day started out cold and wet but by the time thr ceremony started everything was perfect. It was special to have my father walk me down the aisle as he is based in the U.K. My only grandparent was also present which made it such a special day. We wrote and shared our own vows and our dance as husband and wife was a beautiful moment for me
Unfortunately not, I fell ill (exhaustion) a few days after our wedding so spent our honeymoon at home in bed recovering.
My dress was a beautiful creation from De La Vida, I wanted to go for an elegant yet simplistic. I wanted to spend my day enjoying my husband and guests instead of worrying over a hairpin shifting or uncomfortable shoes. I paired my dress off with silver and gold detailed pumps (my something new) and silver drop earrings (an old pair from moi).
Anine Breet was my MUA and she understood that I wanted to maintain and enhance my natural look and not feel plastered with too much make up. She hit the nail on the head.
I think it is very important to not overdo your look and to remember that you if you feel good it naturally shows and that is exactly how I felt on my day.
The ceremony was hosted at Grace Point Church Glenferness and the reception literally 2min away at Aloe Lane Guest Lodge.
We attend Grace Point Church so it was only fitting to have our ceremony there. What a gem Aloe Lane is. A intimate venue with beautiful decor and finishes. We had family and friends stay over. The lodge only has 7 rooms (including the Presidential suite).
I am a very natural person and did not want to overdo or do things I normally wouldn't do for the sake of my big day. I want to look back at our pictures and still feel that it is a true reflection of who I am.
I was mostly worried about getting a pimple on the day so I avoided make-up and kept hydrated as much as possible weeks leading up to the day. I treated myself to a thai massage( I love the feeling of getting broken). I did yoga and my usual toning exercises.
I had to have my dress altered (bigger) & at first I was down but in the end I really just cared that the damn thing fit and I was comfortable and could enjoy the food we had prepared on the day.
I did not want to add to much to the venue as it has breathtaking elements already. The look I went for was very natural-wooden tables, eaucalptyus leaves with white flower elements. We outsourced our tables and decor from Silver Star Hiring...amazing.
I used my son's baby food jars as candle holders for the tables.
My sweet sister in law, Deidrè, created personalized name tags for the chairs and our M&M thank you gifts with
Khaliques Cedar Square-amazing service!! Hubby got his tux...his entire look there. We also had the groomsmen get their wedding sets there. (Pants, shirts, suspenders and bow-ties ).
Dresses from Bride and Co Sandton.
Beautiful dresses that complimented each of them so wonderfully. I wanted an elegant but relaxed look and they pulled it off
Our Bishop Gary Rivas
Carla Adel was our photographer and we had a stop motion videi cimpiled as our thank you card. Which is a beautiful summary of the day in a 5minutes video clip. Really a beautiful concept
Nope just my power house of a sister in law. She absolutely understood my vision and brought so many beautiful ideas to the table.
Honda S2000 for my hubby
Mercedes G Class for me
Cars were not the highlight as everything was so close by literally 10 minutes from home. So we opted to use our own vehicles.
All About Food!
Kim was helpful and always on top of things
DIY between myself and my sister in law Deidre.
We had a live singer for the processional which was beautiful. I walked down the aisle to Coldplay' Sparks.
For the reception we jad pre-loaded playlists off the Deezer app and streamed the songs. Guests also got to play tunes they wanted to hear once the party started which allowed the party animals to have fun
