Magical Moments

Our wedding day was exactly how I envisioned it. I wanted a relaxed, fun and happy vibe filled with lots of laughter, vibrant pops of colour and lots of time with our guests.

Memorable moments for me include walking with my Dad down the aisle, our first wedding selfie as a couple with all our guests, capturing special moments with my family through beautiful photography and my first dance with my new Hubby!

Seeing it all come together and watching everyone have fun, made each moment spectacular x

The Honeymoon

Nyle and I both love Africa and we wanted somewhere relaxed and cultural close to home so we could enjoy our time together on honeymoon as opposed to hours spent on a plane. I had been to Zanzibar twice before but Nyle has never been so I arranged the most romantic and beautiful getaway for us (being that I work in travel) and whisked us off to this magical island.

The days were spent lying under the shade of palm fronds on the warm sand surrounded by the calls of nature and the soft sounds of the crashing waves. The water was warm and the seafood was fresh and our skin glistened in the sun while we relaxed and enjoyed this break away.

I definitely recommend ALL couples to have a honeymoon straight after the wedding to just enjoy some downtime and recoup :)

My Special Day

My theme was festival so I wanted a fun easy dress that would match them theme and that I could dance the night away in. My favourite item was my gorgeous brightly coloured flower crown which looked amazing with my platinum hair.

I wore flat wedges to give a little height and to ensure my feet were comfy all day long. My makeup and hair were done meticulously by the girls from Lindsay Nixon Makeup. Soft curls and smoky eyes made my outfit pop.

I wore no jewellry other than my wedding ring and keep the outfit simple and elegant.

P.S I wish I could wear my dress every day :)

The Venue

We got married at a beautiful venue called Eagles Cry in Tongaat, North Coast. I loved this venue because of the various areas that could be utilised on the day.

We held our ceremony down near the Dudley Pringle Dam under a beautiful tree surrounded by nature. The canapes were up near the reception on huge open lawns under shady trees with gorgeous views overlooking the Dam and surrounding sugar cane fields.

We had 8 different lawn games and a golfing area for the boys. An outside bar area and live music rounded off the theme. The reception room was immaculate with large fold back doors and high beamed ceilings.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

We got engaged in May and married in October so there wasnt really any time to even think about all that LOL

Also I am 150% comfortable with who I am and am really relaxed. I was super relaxed throughout my entire wedding process even on the day and I think that the best regime you can give yourself. After all, its one massive big party with your family and friends and the love of your life xx

Wedding Elements

As mentioned, we did everything ourselves for the wedding day with the help of my family, bridesmaids and friends. My aunt Laurel was very helpful along with my Mom and sister and collectively made 250m of bunting for the main reception room. My sister also made all the hearts for the ceremony and the jars on the tables were covered with my Grandmothers lace.

The tablecloths were borrowed from my cousin Brittany as were the table numbers. My Dad was brilliant and helped me make he festival sign along with the wooden gated entrance plus assisted with putting up the bunting and lighting.

We used Extreme Events for the lighting and the outside bar. Matthew Bouwer is brilliant and highly recommended.

Our florist was Lou Todd from Zinkwazi. She was lovely and kind and knew exactly what we wanted and brought to life the colours and flowers as I wanted. She created the perfect festival them on the tables along with our gorgeous bouquets and flower crowns.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

We chose very funky and fun outfits for the Nyle and his groomsmen. They all wore the same Blue Trousers from David Jones along with crisp white shirts and Converse shoes. The groomsmen wore suspenders and hankies in their pockets whilst Nyle wore a fitted pale blue Blazer. All the guys wore Boutonniere made by our brilliant florist.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

Wow....this was a bit of a process but the end result was amazing! I absolutely loved my bridesmaids dresses. The colour and style suited each and every one and they looked fresh and relaxed as they entertained our guests. They wore the same wedges as me - them in pink and me in blue.

They wore beautiful understated flower crowns and soft makeup with defined eyes and a nude pink lip.

They looked amazing!

Marriage Officer

We got legally married the day before our wedding as we wanted to avoid any time wastage on the day - our aim was to spend as much time with family and friends as possible.

We used a lovely guy called Wessel Wessels from the Glenridge Church and he was both relaxed, professional and efficient.

I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

My Captured Moments

We had the most amazing team to capture our very special day and ensure we have memories to last forever.

Dean Maber was our photographer and Dane Forman was our Videographer.

Both were brilliant and helped capture the fun and relaxed elements of the day. The pictures are stunning and although we have not yet received our video (our fault for not sending our music choices soon enough) we are sure its going to be brilliant! We cant wait!

I would definitely recommend both - even both together x

The Wedding Planner

I have been throwing celebratory parties for as long as I can remember. I have a creative mind and a keen eye for detail. I knew exactly what theme I wanted and designed every element of the day from dresses to flowers, table settings and decor.

My Husband and I found the perfect venue for our Festival Theme wedding and were lucky enough to have the whole week off of the wedding and had assistance from my family and friends. We were on site from the Tuesday doing setup and design and thinking of new things along the way.

I found no need for a planner as we did it ourselves and the result was exactly what we had envisioned. What a spectacular day :)

Wedding Transport

I used a local guy recommended by a friend and hired a van from AVIS for him to transport all of the wedding party and our immediate family to and from the venue. His name was Kuben and he was lovely and super friendly.

Food & Cake

All the catering was done on site by the owner of the venues daughter, Penny McLoughlin. She did a fantastic job and everyone at the wedding commented on how delicious everything was. We went with a traditional SA menu of Braai food and yummy SA desserts and sweet treats.

There was such a vast selection and no one went hungry :)

My Mom and Sister made our wedding cake which was a delicious carrot cake and my Mom organised mini donuts and cute festival themed cupcakes x

Wedding Stationery

I am eco-friendly and didnt want to waste unnecessary paper so I did everything online. We had e-vites courtesy of Paperless Post and I designed a wedding website through The Knot. It made it very easy to manage RSVP and get in contact with guests.

We also sent out Save The Dates via Whatsapp xx

The Reception and Entertainment

Party? Party indeed. We had the most fun. As the theme was light hearted and relaxed, my Dad and me did a fun rehearsed dance to My Girl and Nyle and I danced away to Nothings Gonna Stop Us by Starship xx

We had live music during Canapes courtesy of James Freedom and our DJ was Richard Anderson. Both were brilliant and made our day/night spectacular. They worked with the crowd and ensured everyone had a good time and rocked the dancefloor.
