Into the Woods Styled Shoot

'Into The Woods'

It's not everyday that you get to forgo the Friday office and venture out into the woods, but that is exactly what we did, and this project was totally inspired by the natural forest environment. A collaborative, creative shoot that we've been working on for some time. The forest floor and mottled light shining through the treetops provided us with all the inspiration we needed to come up with this wedding theme. The romance created by our bridal couple was heightened by the power of our wild surrounds. Rich colours, natural woods, wild crowns and gilded touches of opulence combined to create, in our books, a pretty perfect picture. Welcome to our favourite styled-shoot look to date; 'Into The Woods' by SA Weddings, 2iC Projects and Gunther Schubert Photography. We hope you enjoy and find as much inspiration from viewing our content as we did in creating it.

Meet the team

Our venue canvas for this shoot is the truly hidden gem of De Uijlennes, just past Gansbaai. A two hour drive leads you to the ultimate hidden location of a forest, tucked away in this diverse wedding venue's space offering. Our bride and groom models, Nathan and Catherine, quickly made the forest their home. Using tree trunks as make-up chairs while Skoonlief set about creating their hair and makeup look with inspiration truly creeping in from all around. Cheri and Julia from 2iC projects are a dynamic duo to say the least - armed with a bakkie bursting with treasures and farm finds, they turned the inside of the forest into a magazine-worthy shoot space before we could quite comprehend just how they were seamlessly suspending candles from hanging branches, putting old, antiqued looking frames into trees and creating a kind of magic thats hard for words alone to do justice to.

And what Cheri and Julia are to decor and styling, Gunther Schubert and his partner, Jean, are to the camera. Gunther snaps away, completely at ease in his creative space, knowing full well that he will get the shot whilst perfectly capturing the soft-glow intimacy of nature that only this forest floor can hold.

Skoonlief changed Catherine's makeup and hair look to suit the four beautiful 'blushing bride' dresses she wore, courtesy of the incredibly talented Cindy Bam. From berry lips and golden eye hues to perfectly suit her complexion, wild plaited 'up do's', to tousled locks let loose and a flower crown like no other, courtesy of Paradiso, to perfectly set the mood for running through the fields hand-in-hand with Nathan at her side. His hair loose or in his statement man-bun, this groom knows a thing or two about style. WEEF handmade leather bowties made a feature here too, and we love that the guys see this statement piece in the same light that we do.

Talking florals, Paradiso left us a little in awe with a selection of flowers that perfected the brief but also left us wondering where on earth half the flowers came from- beautiful and some never-seen-before. We had blues, purples, berries, cascading bouquets, the 'wild crown' perfectly finished with touches of rose gold and then there were our favourite extra touch of fun- with the botanical drink stirrer range they lovingly prepared for us too.

2iC projects pulled together all the decor, styling and project co-ordintaion using Fleur Design Studio for the beautifully on-trend stationery, Table Cloth Hiring Company and Two Birds at The Dairy Shed for the bountiful spread you see below, with a little help from mother nature- thanks to some foraging efforts en route to the venue.

Lastly, the cake that stole the show- Sweet Lion heart- wowed us with this creation. A show-stopper in every way. Vanilla sponge heaven with a caramel cover that we're sure all the ants and insects loved us for post pack-up. This cake eats as good as it looks, and believe us, it was hard to cut out that first slice but someone had to ;)

Thanks to everyone involved in creating this forest fun! This was our favourite Friday of 2017 yet.
