How To Choose The Perfect Wedding Venue

Selecting a wedding venue is one of the first (and biggest) decisions you'll have to make in the planning process. For many, it can become a daunting task, but we're here to make your life a little easier by offering all brides-to-be our top tips on choosing the perfect wedding venue.

Decide on your guest list

Before you and your stunning fiancé can go around venue hunting, you'll first have to sit down and work through your guest list. It's quite a stressful task, but ultimately it will be a huge determining factor in choosing your venue.

We know working through your guest list can be a very stressful task as well, but remember, this is your day and you'll only need to invite your nearest and dearest.

Decide on your style

This is where the real fun begins! Decide on the type of wedding you want and make sure that whatever you choose is a true reflection of yourselves. Do you spend most weekends on the beach with your surfboards? If so, you'd most likely consider a beach wedding. If you're both city people, we love the idea of a glass wedding venue with panoramic views of the city.

Your options with venues are endless and this is one of the most exciting parts of the planning process! Of course, make sure that your venue has plenty of photo opportunities as it is the backdrop of your special day, after all!

Venue location

Venue location is extremely important, especially if you're inviting out of town guests. Your venue should be easily accessible, or there should be an option for accommodation at the venue or close by if guests need to travel.

Decide on your budget

The "B" word is probably the most dreaded, but it's such an important aspect and it needs to be discussed before you can go ahead with any planning. Sit down with your fiancé and discuss what your total wedding budget is and how much you're willing to spend on each item.

Trust us, it's much easier going into the planning process with a clear idea of how much you're willing to spend than having to be disappointed because your dream venue is way above your budget.

Choose your wedding date

For some, having a specific wedding date can be very significant. If this is the case, you'd want to check in with your chosen venue if your date is available.

Check on food quality

Food is one of the most important parts of your wedding day and it's definitely something guests will remember. Make sure your venue has a good reputation with their food and ask if you can sample your wedding menu beforehand.

Sometimes, venues will allow you to bring in outside catering. If this is the case, remember to tell your venue beforehand who you will be using for your catering as they need to meet the venue's requirements. Alternatively, if your venue does not have in house catering, ask them for a list of their preferred suppliers.

Don't be afraid to ask

Never be afraid to ask questions. We've put together a list of 20 questions you need to ask your wedding venue before you sign on the dotted line
